Chillax, dudes.
It’s just an ad. I’m sure they weren’t trying to piss off MB owners with it. It looks to me like they wanted the viewers to see that they have paid attention to, as well as learned from (whether everyone sees it their way and agrees or not): The best in German engineering (the MB) The best in American Luxury (the Lincoln) The best in European performance (the BMW) An icon of American Muscle (the Firebird/TA) Then they want you to just forget about the Lexus. (One of their biggest competitors. Go figure.) Add a hint of American SUV utility (the big black SUV) Put them all together, and they have developed the new supercharged A6. Capable of “pulling away/out performing/saving you from/etc.etc.” (read that as you will) all others, including high performance crotch rockets. Looks to me like a well thought out and produced ad for their product. That holds true regardless of how I/you/we feel about Audi as an automobile manufacturer. You/me/we should be happy/proud that they put an MB in there (smack it or not.)(Hell, think of it as a car that can take a hit from a US tank of a car.) It actually says a lot for MB if you think about it the way the ad was intended.

After listening to several opinions on this, I have concluded that , yes, there is more than one way to look at this commercial. Fine and good.
Furthermore, I read Audi's release on this and can easily see what their marketing dept. is going for: http://www.audiworld.com/news/09/superbowl-preview/ Nonetheless and regardless of who does it, smashing these old beauties is wrong. And although I don't like it and I won't buy an Audi because of it; It will do exactly what it is intended to do. Attract young American buyers.

I can't tell from the poor video I have if the left trunk badge says 280SE(L)(W108) or 300SEL (W109). Clearly the 4.5 is on the right side. I'm leaning toward W108 though. So many more were made. Also can't tell if the wheelbase is longer making it a 109?
