Dell
and go on dell's outlet online and get a sweet deal on scratch and dent, customer returns, or canceled orders... |
My HP has been perfect, but my sisters Dell laptop has been pretty good two. Only a couple of problems.
I'm sticking to HP though, even with Vista it runs fine. |

I recently bought the second Dell..........however resolving the few issues has taken far longer than desired. Apparently, there are few people at Dell that are familiar in any way with MS Office. Therefore, they can't advise on a software issue..........even though they sold the software with the machine.
After about one month, I finally got to a second level tech who replicated the problem on their machines and found a work around. Apparently, MS Outlook has a fault whereby the word wrap won't work with a specific font..........Arial narrow. Who could have ever found that..........but, Dell finally did. My experience with HP on another machine has been very good. A knowledgeable tech once spent three hours, including editing the registry, to finally get an "all in one" to work properly. This Dell ate two motherboards in the first month............but, Dell replaced them both in one business day.........each time. This machine is a Vostro 400 and it doesn't have many of the features on the old machine........a Dimension 4500..........no parallel port, no serial port, only two PCI expansion slots..........sound on the motherboard. It works fine for my purposes but it generally seems like a barebones machine. You can probably get a better price with Dell.........but, I'd guess that you get what you pay for. |
My choice is between Dell Inspiron or HP a6700z
Also i put all of my sites into My Documents and i don't know how to put them onto a dvd. |

They offer diagrams for assembly and disassembly online, so that if you get into trouble, you can service it yourself. Lenovo bought out IBM. My bosses Lenovo has a Magnesium frame, and a Carbon Fiber Composite Skin. Not to mention that it will go 5 hours without its extended battery. 11-12 hours with the extended battery. |
Yep, Lenovo/IBM.....way better than the rest.
HP if you must. Ideally self built. Thats always best! I've never bought a "brand" PC ever....aside from my laptop which (regrettably) is an HP business notebook, but I only paid $380 for it, and its held up for over 2.5 years so far....so I suppose its ok. It even runs Windows 7beta perfectly. If I had to get another I'd get a ThinkPad.....those rock....very well made. |

We "spilled" distilled water on it to clean it... :D |
Like most electronics, it's the sugars in drinks that will kill a circuit board when it turns to caramel when it gets hot.

I reciently had a machine built at ecollegepc. They have pre-built stuff on ebay, or you can go to the website to custom order exactly what you want. There's a few reviews avalible for them, almost all positive. They also have a real good rep on ebay over 6000 feedbacksince 2000, 780 positive and only 1 negative over the last 12 months. I ordered mine on a Saturday, and it arrived on the following Friday. Price was better than anywhere else I found, too. I could have saved maybe $50 or so if I built it myself. Highly recommended.
