CNN is now saying that a bomb was the apparent cause. It makes sense, as I believe the hybrid batteries are located aft of the driver's seat and the blast appears to be in the area of the engine compartment.

Thats right. It was a car bomb and the man was seriously injured. You can clearly tell in the photo that the car was not damaged by fire... at least as far as I can tell.
