I haven't used a virus program in over 8 years....and have never gotten a virus.....there's very little risk out there for getting a "virus" anymore....

Nah, haven't gotten any in years. If you know not to click on the wrong stuff your risk is super low. Low enough IMHO that its unnecessary to run the computer-slowing programs that try to combat it. And, if infected, re-image.

I suspect that by, "re-image", he's referring to restoring a complete image of the system - an image that was made prior to any infection, corruption, etc. This can be a lot less work than trying to clean up a damaged system.

Read up on "disk imaging software" if you want to learn more.

System restore just rolls back the drivers and system registry to a (hopefully) working set.

Imaging software, such as Norton Ghost makes a compressed copy of an entire hard drive or partition and can restore the partition. It is a very powerfull utility.

I use SuperAntiSpyware, and a fake download screen came up trying to get my to get virus protection...than the spyware program stopped it and I killed IE.
