Went to the auto show today....

I went to our local auto show today (huge)....and looked at probably 175 different cars/trucks/suv's....etc...

Observations:

The sprinter is awesome....I need to get one of those someday.

Volvo has a bunch of crazy people on its ergonomics design team....not sure what they were thinking.

I sat in their new convertable, with the seat in the correct position, and found that appearantly I am too big (5' 11") to drive this car....my head is higher than the ceiling and roofline!!! I took a couple pics with my phone lined up with a "from my eyes" perspective sitting in it....check it out:

That is looking out ahead through the "wall" as a I call it...can you say obstructed vision?! And, since my head is higher than the roof, if I closed the roof it would shut on my head. Nice.

Next, a view when looking to the left. I had my head on the headrest!!!

What the heck?

And, what is it with these micro tiny hard to reach headlight switches....what a joke....its smaller than my finger tip!:

VW has some nice stuff, but the new CC suffers once again from the hit your head on the ceiling in both front and back syndrome.....its claustrophobic. The routon is nice....the Tuareg is nice....their new convertible is nice.

MB has some nice stuff, as always I loved the ML....its pretty much perfect ergonomically and size-wise IMHO.....if I had the dough I'd buy a ML 320Cdi. I also liked the cars....the C and E are nice, especially the E. The SL is cool.....the GL is too big....the GLK is too cramped, not very good.

BMW had their diesel SUV there....265hp and 405lbs of torque!! count me in!!!

I was actually impressed by some of Kia's vehicles....the Optima is a very nicely made car, it felt comfortable and well put together. Their SUV is pretty nice too....bad MPG though.

Hyundai....eh, they felt cheap. The toyotas....well....they're toyotas....I own one already and I've yet to be impressed by one.

Nissan altima: very nice car.... very comfortable and solid feeling...especially in the back!! I could ride back there forever! Very roomy.

GM: Yikes.....they are headed down the drain.....pickups with drum brakes? Cars with doors that shudder and rattle? SUV's that don't even have the MPG listed they're so bad? They need to die.

Chrysler.....once again....total trash. I almost broke the turn signal stalk off on an "Avenger" when I was playing with it. It flexes so much you can't even tell if it "clicks" on or not. The plastics are cheap and hard, it has sharp edges, exposed screw holes.....the list goes on. Horrifying.

Ford: Impressed by many of their offerings.....especially the new taurus!! Its a totally different car.....it can't be compared to its predecessor at all. Its spacious, well made, comfortable, and well equipped. The trunk is as big as a W126 trunk if not bigger!

Subaru has some nice stuff too, they feel well made.

Overall its good to see that some automakers are actually making some seemingly good products.....but there's still a huge amount of junk out there....

And, for the firs time ever in person I got to see a VEYRON!!! WOW. *drool*

Here's a pic!!!

They had a bunch of exotics there.....a couple Bentleys....a Rolls.....a Maserati.....some high end MB's.....a Lamborghini....and a bunch of classics too.....

It was a fun afternoon!

The NY Auto show is coming up soon, I always go to it to look. Its a good place to shop because you can save time and compare competing vehicals all at once.

All the new cars start to look the same after awhile though.

I quit going to those "exposition" type auto shows. It's like going to a strip club - filled with nice looking stuff that I can't have...

LOL. Actually a vast majority you probably could have. Its just all your typical offerings + they have a special area with some exotics and classics. First time I had ever seen a Veyron in person!! It was pretty cool.

Wait, let me clarify: Those shows are filled with nice looking things I can't touch and that I'll never have enough money for... Well, the cheaper ones I can touch...

Looks like the rear of the Veyron could very well be the front.
