Owners of W124 E320 Wagons

Here's something to feel better about your purchase.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Trucks___1995-Mercedes-Benz-E320-Wagon-Exceptional-Condition_W0QQitemZ370154616643QQddnZCarsQ20Q26Q20TrucksQQddiZ2282QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks? hash=item370154616643&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=72%3A317%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

I wonder who bid the $10,000? Shill? You can get a nice W211 with the BIN. The seller is wasting his time.

Now I don't feel so bad about the money I am putting into my car.

My budget was around $10-$12K when shopping for my wagon. The BIN is high, but 10K is worth every penny for an immaculate low-mileage wagon - if the headgasket, wiring harness have been fixed and everything else works.

If it all had been replaced, head gasket, wiring harness, evaporator... perhaps. Driving this car regularly would be like driving a ticking time bomb.

I agree with Tyler that it looks like a time bomb unless it's documented that ALL the major stuff has been done. You can bet they used the car in the mild Georgia climate, parked in a cozy garage, and lucked out by having to do only the minimal, basic maintenance. Now they have a $15,000 estimate from the dealer to get the car through it's next 75,000 miles including work for suspension, evaporator, wiring harness, ASR, transmission, head, water pump, radiator, hydraulic system, bearings and bushings all around, exhaust system, tailgate struts, etc.

Isn't there a throttle bit that fails as well? My car has had the following replaced so far:

wiring harness, head gasket, hydraulic system, bearings, exhaust system

Throttle body?

I have two on a shelf in the garage for when the ones in the SL decide to give up the ghost.
