A-Roid!!!!!!!!
Pitchers and catchers reporting. It's warming up this week in the NE. Thoughts are turning to America's pastime.
And all we hear about is A-Rod and steroids. That's all they're talking about on the sports talk stations here in NY. I don't care. I don't want to hear about it. Let's stop talking about it. OK - I know. I brought it up. But Let's just talk baseball. I don't care what they put into their bodies. I'm done. |

Your new buddy Joe Torre didn't come off too well with that kiss and tell book.

Also, in defense of A Rod, he has many good qualities that, IMHO, overcome his youthful indiscretion when he was a Ranger. He works hard off the field and hustles on the field. He doesn't stand and watch his home run balls. He is a ball player and a half. I think people get caught up in his pretty-boy, arrogant image and forget what a great ball player he is. I'm assuming, of course, that he has remained clean since 2003. |

Jackass lies about using illegal drugs that enhance his athletic performance and the league leaves him alone.
Young Phelps admits he burned some weed that probably would hurt his athletic performance and he gets suspended by his organization. BS |

Not for me.

Smoking a little "weed" isn't gonna hurt his swimming abilities anymore than drinking a few beers. Do you really think he never smoked pot before he won the 8 gold medals?

The Dodgers are a classy organization, and we love Joe Torre. We also have the best broadcaster in the history of professional sports: Vin Scully. He came with the team from Brooklyn in 1959, and he's still calling the games. In 2009, the ASA named him the top sportscaster of all-time on its list of the Top 50. http://www.americansportscastersonline.com/top50sportscasters.html

In both cases, the league/organization took the course that coincides with their financial interests. Phelps' suspension comes at a time when there won't be any big events needing his services, so they lose nothing and can claim that they got tough.

Most people seem to agree with you. I have a lot of respect for him. If he quit taking banned substances in 2003, then I don't think he committed such a horrible crime.

So, to be the "highest paid" baseball player, he had to junk himself up. And, gets no punishment whatsoever. Yeah, that's what I want to teach my kids.
