I rented the movie W and watched it tonight.

It seemed like someone who likes W could feel sorry for him after watching it. I liked Laura in it as much as I like her in real life. Josh brolin really sounded like W. Looked a lot like him too.

Its too bad his father made him feel that he could never live up to the Bush legacy.

I think one scene may have summed up their relationship. The night W won the Texas governorship his dad gave him cufflinks which had belonged to Prescott Bush. W seemed to have trouble understanding why his dad loved the cufflinks so much...they were made from Mercury dimes.

I guess the movie is old news but I saw a preview of it on a Movie we watched a couple of nights ago and decided it might be worth watching.

I had lots of doubts as to whether the portrayal of the relationship between father and son was accurate. Also thought the conversion scene was odd. Too many Catholic images for someone being born again.

I wondered too if the relationship was exaggerated.

I have noticed numerous hints of something there just from what I have observed in the mainstream media though.

I missed the Catholic images.

I remember GHWB back in 1995..

I covered his run for Gov against Richards and remember when he gave a speech in El Paso and he was so drunk he couldn't finish a sentence!

He gave up on the speech and sang "the Eyes of Texas are upon you" and finished with "Texas, O Texas, God Bless the Mighty State"!

I never thought he would end up Prez, but once he was in I kept looking for the hole in his back where Cheney's are fit to run W's mouth.
