8 pin connector - What is voltage?
On my 1993 300e I run my code reader with #1 being ground and #16 being the voltage. On a friends 1988 Mercedes 560sl roadster/convert with 8 pin connector I'm assuming #1 is ground but where is the voltage? Or do I need to pull it from a battery source? Thanks. Rick

Whooooeeee, here's an old post! YET, it is somewhat timely - for me at least. I'm wanting to run some code tests on the '88 260E but I have the exact question. Which pin is the 12v power from? I have the 'famous' camera film container LED tester and am assuming that it will work in this testing similar to what is used on my '95 wagon....? Thanks

Man! It has been a long time for this one. As I recall pin 1 is ground and each flash is 12V. IIRC I put a resistor in series with the LED that was calculated to drop enough voltage to allow for 12 Volts. It has been a LOnG time, but buried in the bowels of this forum are threads with detailed instructions. IIRC the guy who posted lots of info on the X11 connector and code reading was JimF. Oh and Arthur Dalton I think was the other. Look up those member names and see if that is right.
Hope this helps.
