Saw a 300SL today

Signal red I think. 1987 euro with an m103 I think. That was one of the most beautiful 107's I've seen. Old couple driving- I chatted with them at a stop light. One of the highlights of my day.

Pretty! With a stick that would be a fun car! They just had an article about them in Mercedes Enthusiast.

A hot chick wrote it, and really likes manual Mercedes, and I6's.

Whats with the Euro plates? Are they visiting and had it shipped over? I would think they would need a temp. state registration to drive it here.

I have one of those, including the 5 speed stick, and I have to say she makes my heart go pitter patter every day. The inline six mated to the manual transmission... oh the sounds she makes. Version 2.0 of the R107 comes with powerful running gear and a precise suspension set up. She's rip roaring loud but subtlety smooth. When you do the gears right, you spend only a few seconds of pushed-back-in-your-seat streaming bliss rocketing through the six's silky power band. Twenty to seventy in second gear or fifty to one hundred in third gear is a serious, hold-onto-the-steering rush.

I can imagine! Someday I will have to get my hands on one. I like the sounds of the M103....and in a manual SL it'd be awesome.

Two of those came to a get together here in town last year. Nice cars.

I did not take pics- just found some online to recreate the experience.
