Here's what's going to be interesting....Hummer, SAAB, Saturn and Mini are all going to be gone within the next few months. There maybe more, who knows, but those marques are going down for sure. GM tried to get the Swedish government to buy SAAB back from them but the Swedish government rejected the proposal....watch this stuff....this should be fresh...GoodYear tires just announced a 15,000 staff layoff, not selling tires to Detroit....there will be alot more concerns going down here shortly, bailout or not....watch.....

Saab and Mini are not going to be gone in the next few months, or next few years.

Kinda sad to see Saturn go, simply because I grew up watching them develop. Then again, the cars were uninspiring, and the set price concept isn't viable in a cutthroat market.
Surely someone will buy Saab; I just can't imagine them going under. Then again, nobody is doing acquisitions; even Circuit City couldn't find a buyer. Sad if Saab goes. |

in fact I saw several different viewpoints on this today...SAAB has posted quarterly loses for GM for like the last 8 quarters, BMW wants to get rid of Mini and is fully looking for a buyer, like right now. Hummer is dead for obvious reasons (including the fact it never should have existed outside the military theater anyway) and Saturn is a non-profitable burden. there will be more down the line anyhow, those are just the ones I heard of today. so, without looking it up, anyone know where the name saturn came from?

In my opinion, it is GM's fault that Saturn is a burden, not Saturn's fault. The more control GM excercised over Saturn, the worse things got for them.
Why not dissolve Buick instead?
