Washing Machine Balance Q's

What is the best way to balance a washing machine?

We got a new LG washer, and we seem to not be able to get it to balance right.

Shouldn't need to balance it, you need to level it.

Most have instructions, the rear (on ours) is a funky floating feet, as you set it they will start leveling the rear. Then the front is normal threaded feet.

We have to do ours periodically as the wifey makes me move it so we can clean under / behind it.

front loader or top?

when I was a maytag the front loaders had a liquid baffle as part of the drum to act as an automatic balancer, they also had a big cement block in the base to act as a buffer until the balance moved. The machine should shut off if it is not balanced out within a certain time. if you cant get it to balance you should call the manufacturerers help line and if they cant help it may be a faulty machine

If the LG is like mine, then there is the possibility that some plastic "bolts" weren't removed from the back of the machine. (They have them in there for transport)
I don't recall if there are 3 or 4 of them.
Might be worth a look behind your machine.

^^^ same with ours - had to remove something when we bought it. Don;t remember if clips or bolts, but something was in there to keep the thing stable during shipping. Helps to read the instructions....

We got it balanced better, but still not perfect. Doesnt "walk" around anymore, but it still goes back and forth and makes one helluva racket.

it shouldnt, unless you are trying to wash floor mats or cushions or something, you should call the help line in the instruction manual

I was told with my front load that they were made to sit on concrete subfloors not wood (like mine) so I had to go underneath and reinforce the floor with cinder blocks to stop the racket. hope this helps

That LG should not be doing that.

Make sure it is flat on the floor. If so, and it rock and rolls, bring it back. Something wrong with it.
