Some of the engineering looks a bit barnyard but the overall result is still pretty good. (All that work and they didn't fit a raised air intake:confused:?)

SirNik84 03-10-2009 08:00 PM

Justin, iwrock, needs one of those!

Hatterasguy 03-10-2009 08:09 PM

Very cool.

Still think a Mog is cooler though.

GregoryV022 03-10-2009 08:15 PM

There's at least one of those for sale in the US at the moment. There's someone over at ExpeditionPortal who took one on a trail ride in the recent past.

Here it is:

Being able to carry heavy or bulky loads, 4x4 Sprinters would make good expedition vehicles especially in open plains or desert areas....beyond that though there could be quite a bit of trouble. Even though the ground clearance is good you'll never get around the crazy long wheel base. That thing would be a seesaw every minute even over small hills unless you go crazy lifting it....and then off course you get all the nasty side effects of lifting....Then if your amongst the trees that super high room could easily become a problem. Gwagen or Unimog = Better option.

The exact one like in the picture would be just about perfect for driving around here in the winter months. :D :D

TheDon 03-10-2009 11:12 PM

the Norse really know how to make anything 4x4 and even 6x6

bgkast 03-11-2009 12:46 AM

Nice spoiler.

Excellent, poor man's Unimog in a sort of way. They make Tempo Traveler 4WD in India for special purpose.

iwrock 03-11-2009 03:22 AM

Thats cool.

I want one.

SwampYankee 03-11-2009 07:51 AM

I like! And it's big enough to haul my whole family, dogs included!

I wonder if anyone is still giving 0% interest, long-term ARM's for RV's?:)

I don't think Iceland, that would be a major necessity in a 4x4, like the heated windshield and two heating systems are:D

that looks pretty sweet. There is a 4x4 Ford quadravan diesel that lives near me and I see it on a pretty regular basis. I wouldnt mind driving either of those.

44's do give some good fording ability. Probably equivalent to a Jeep on 33's with a snorkel.

Looks a little tippy, though!

Quigley does some nice conversions. A friend of mine does HVAC and has an '05 Quigley Chevy 3500 diesel that he's been toying with selling but they still sell for big bucks used. His has power everything and AC but is a workvan so the cargo area is essentially stripped of everything and he paid almost $40K for it used in '06. If it were a passenger van I'd be tempted if it were in the sub-$25K range.

I also see a Quigley Ford E350 on a regular basis but it's a full conversion with a wheelchair lift. That thing had to be upwards of $60K brand new!

I'm not sure I want to be the one driving through a river deep enough that thing would require a snorkel for!

I wonder if it would float at all with that buoyancy?

Good question. I got stuck in Costa Rica in 1999 and had to spend a couple of days hanging out at the embassy (stolen docs). These two surfers from California had tipped a Toyota Hi-Lux they had rented from Avis down there that washed down some rapids and they didn't opt for the additional insurance and couldn't leave the Country until somebody paid for the truck:eek: I have walked the creeks I eventually ford ever since;)
