Recession Steak

While my wife and kids are soaking it up in Madoff's former turf I'm at home eating hamburger and drinking beer, I'd cook more but I hate dishes.

But while I was cooking and eating my yummy burgers I was thinking that they were better than most $20 steaks. I don't pack them and throw them on the grill I make em happy with olive oil, seasoning salt, garlic, worstishire, hot sauce, and anything else that happens to be at arms length when mixing. I let them sit for an hour in the fridge, grill and eat some damn good steak.

Any good burger recipes?

I have eaten at some pricey places, and some interesting stuff.

But the best meals I have ever had are a kick ass burger, and an ice cold beer. I have yet to find anything thats better than a juicy burger and a cold beer.

I like this stuff, with some hot sauce mixed in. Throw on some grilled onion, tomato, lettuce, and pepperjack cheese, a dash of A1 finish's it off.

My friends dad makes a mean venison burger.

2 patties sandwiched together with Swiss between and bacon over and a touch of seasoning salt is a recipe for burger debauchery.

A plain burger with a slice of a GOOD tomato and I'm a happy cat. I never use condiments, unless the girl looks really unsavory.

I've hooked up with a few who had their own condominiums....took the worry out of being intimate.

True, true....but to get a good enough tomato now a days, you pretty much have to grow your own.

Aren't condiments what you chew to get the latex taste out of your mouth?

On a related note since more folks are eating in these days. Instead of frying, you can make meatballs in the oven. Just put em on a cookie sheet covered with foil and let em bake. With the foil liner there is zero cleanup.

Another cheap food is beef liver. I had a meal of it yesterday in a decent restaurant for $7.95 including a salad and baked potatoe!

Yummm!

I like burgers too...cooked on the grill with a large slice of onion, dill pickles and lettuce....topped with mustard.

Exactly! And not hard to do.

I'm usually happy with just freshly ground black and white pepper and some kosher or sea salt before throwing it on the grill. I'll throw in things that strike my fancy on occasion when the mood strikes but otherwise I tend to stay minimalistic with burgers. 85% lean, gotta have some fat in them.

I wonder at the proximity of the seasoning atop the washing machine.

There's either a washing machine in the kitchen, or a hotplate in the laundry room.

Here is another good Morton product to savy up the burger. Hot Salt

If you are doing your own grind on the HB meat - throw some bacon into the patties!

I like to mix sausage into the ground beef and make hamburger patties with that. Sometimes I'll add other things too, like chopped onions or mushrooms.

It's also pretty cool to make a patty filled with cheese.
