Certain Sign of the End of the World

Jaguar Ties for #1 in Vehicle Dependability - JD Power

And VW doesn't even place!. I still own two. Go figure.

Jaguar paid JD Powers.

It seems that most newer MB's (aside from the SLK?!) only get 2-3 "dots" in all the ratings....are they really that unreliable?

G-Benz 03-19-2009 01:48 PM

If they would disclose the actual "repair" issues, you might find that the MB owners are pretty fussy.

I suspect "melted piston" vs. "loose nut" probably share equal merit in the "tick mark" category.

My 07 ML has been mostly trouble free, but there is that nagging rear hatch lock issue...it has to get adjusted every "A" and "B" service visit because it occasionally doesn't want to engage when closing!

If I noted that in the survey, I'm sure it wouldn't help ratings...

I think you mean Tata motors paid JD Powers:)

I'd like a nice pair of Tata's with firm suspension and a warm interior.

Yup, I think these surveys are pretty useless because they don't take into account the nature and severity of the warranty problems and they lump them all into the same bag. Also they're all initial, warranty-related problems and that tells you nothing about long-term reliability.

I thinks it's more of a reflection of how far everybody else slid back. The reach of the bean counters has gotten world-wide.

My Jaguar has been trouble free. It likes to eat pads/ rotors but they are Brembo so not suprised.

Hear! Hear!

There's nothing like a fine pair of Tatas with firm suspension.

I also like a tail that, when going around a hot track, will almost break free while maintaining a controlled slide before pounding down the main stretch for home.

After writing that I need a glass of iced tea.

I wonder if it was a data sampling issue . . . 14,000 Jaguars sold in a year?
