Looks like a Craig's list scam
Looking for a Lexus for my daughter. Found this; must be a scam. This is the email that he sent to me:
Thank you for your interest in my car. This is a 2005 LEXUS RX 330,4 DR. WAGON/SPORT UTILITY 3.3L V6 SFI 24V ALL WHEEL DRIVE .A/C, Cruise Control, Navigation System, Power Locks, Power Steering, Remote Keyless Entry, Bucket Seats, Leather Interior, Memory Seats, Power Seats, Airbags, Alarm, Anti-Lock Brakes, Fog Lights, Cassette Radio, CD Changer, CD Player, Power Windows, Rear Window Defroster, Rear Window Wiper, Tinted Glass, Alloy Wheels, Sunroof/Moonroof.Non-Smoker, No accidents,All scheduled maintenance,Transmission Automatic, VIN# : JTJHA31U750087208,Mileage 45,000. Here you can find more pictures of the car: http://s664.photobucket.com/albums/vv5/lexus2005/ (if the above link does not work copy and paste it into a new web browser window). The car has been well taken care of, always kept in the garage.Flawless exterior/interiorcondition,no scratches and no dents. It has never been involved in an accident. The engine starts and drives like new and the paint looks great. It comes with US clear title which will be signed and notorized in the buyer's name.Have original manuals and all keys. I'm an US Air Force SSgt.currently stationed in the United Kingdom. The car is here with me. It was bought in the US and shipped to Europe, but it was never permanently registered here, the car is still registered in the US.The car is for sale locally as well, but there are slim chances of this to happen. In order to be able to register this car here in the UK the buyer would have to pay very high import/custom taxes that will double the price. So I decided to sell the car back in the US. The price is $4,830.00 including shipping from the UK to the US and delivery to your home address. So if you decide to buy this car or need further information please get back to me as soon as possible. Thank you SSgt.Christopher Yones .AOLWebSuite .AOLPicturesFullSizeLink { height: 1px; width: 1px; overflow: hidden; } .AOLWebSuite a {color:blue; text-decoration: underline; cursor: pointer} .AOLWebSuite a.hsSig {cursor: default} |
yeah

That would be my first thought.
But if you want the car, maybe set up a proxy arrangement. Or ask him for his superiors name and contact info. If he is a staff sergeant, he should understand someone doing his homework before laying out the cash. |
Big time scam. Fill in the car & location type of email.
Howitzer needs to see this one, he likes toying with these jokers. |
Wow....m-a-j-o-r scam alert.
|
Btw its a good, solid reliable series. the rx300 is a better choice imho. the rx330 is just a faster verison of the rx300. that guy should be priced at least 20 grand if its in the condition he says its in.
try locating an rx300 in your area. |
Yea, but he's a motivated seller. Who cares if your price is 15K too low if you don't even have a car to deliver?
|
price should be around 23 grand but if the guy wants to move the car and get rid of it fast then the price is pretty damn hard to beat since you dont even have to pay to ship the car back to the US
|
If he is in the military, won't they ship the car for him for nothing?
|
Just looked up the resale value, definite scam.
Still, ask him for his superiors name and rank, or some other info that he won't be able to provide. I would do it except I could not find the craigslist ad. Which craigslist?, I would love to mess with this guy. I'll even post back :D |
Guys its a scam, wake up. Let howie play with him then flag the craigslist ad and report the account to photobucket.
|
just looked at craigslist atlanta and found plenty of other RX's available
cant seem to find the ad, is it listed in atlanta craigslist? http://atlanta.craigslist.org/cto/1089676391.html http://atlanta.craigslist.org/ctd/1084068522.html looks like a good one http://atlanta.craigslist.org/ctd/1071489257.html is what you should expect to pay for an 05 rx330 http://atlanta.craigslist.org/ctd/1082550127.html |
CL is just full of these scams. I used to flag them when I had nothing better to do.
|
Flagging them is alright, but pretending you fell for the scam is much more entertaining:cool:
Noticed photobucket account had over 1000 visits. Safe to say this scam has been run before |
Cant find the AD, I want to mess with him :)
cant find it in any of Georgia lisitngs or the Uk listings, must be an old ad or got pulled sigh If one of us finds this ad Ive got a good fun idea for this |
