just be careful what you buy there. who wants a tool that will break or is unsafe even for 20% off? try and find a local Northern Tool or Farmer's Supply. They are comparable in price and most of thier stuff is usable.

I have bought power tools like the 4-1/2'' angle grinder from HF, wrenches, sockets, torque wrenches, consumables, I have broke none of the tools I've bought from there.

That being said, I avoid the cheapo stuff like all of their screwdrivers, $9.99 impact wrench, etc.

This article gives a good list of things what to and what not to buy at HF.

Some stuff is junk but there is a lot of decent stuff and consumables such as welding wire, welding tips, JB Weld, degreaser etc etc.

20% isn't bad, after all, every little bit helps

My only bad tool purchase was a SPS system hammer drill. I bought it on my way to do a job where I needed to put anchors in a concrete wall to hold a core drill so I could get some cores of the wall for testing. The HF was right on my way. It worked perfectly, but when I was done, the chuch would not release. I stopped by the HF on the way home and asked if they could get the bit out of the chuck. The manager just gave me another drill. This one has been perfect for 3 years. I have even abused it to the point where it was too hot to hold, and it still works.

I've had some problems with their nail guns, but when one costs $19 and a comparable one at Home Depot cost $119, well, I just throw the old one away. Otherwise, I find their stuff excellent, I built myself a nice motorcycle repair lift out of their mc jacks and an electric hoist motor, all for under $200. When it comes to products that are good and cheap, there is nothing like communist slave labor, just ask the Germans!

I had trouble finding a 12mm hex allen bit for the belt tensioner bolt. I could order one from Sears for $22.

I bought a whole 1/2" set at HF for $14.

I bought one of their 12V digital impact guns ($50 or so)....and the first one died after 5-6 uses.....so I brought it back and said it had died with hardly any use....(which it had), they just said "go grab another from the shelf" and I was all set. The one I have now has been working fine for a while. I just used it Friday to remove/install all the allen bolts that hold the hub to the rotor on a W126....makes that job super easy! No re-bolting to the wheel and such.

Has anyone tired using this particular coupon? The fine prints says it's can't be duplicated, including by computer printout. I'd like to use it on a jack and/or a blast cabinet.

I was wondering the same thing. But the ones I get through my email account look like this when you print them so I am unsure as well. The only way they can track them is if the barcode looks different for every coupon and once you use it is goes invalid to be used again.

If anyone tries to use it let us know how it goes.

I stopped in over the weekend, and asked if I could get 20% even though I left my coupon at home, hoping it was a generic thing that they could override. The manager said they couldn't do that, and that the coupon had a number on it that they would need... so they may be a "one time use" deal.

Does anyone have one in an email that they won't be using? I signed up for the coupon emails, but haven't gotten any. I'd really like to pick these two items up while they're on sale; thanks!

Guys, it's a screen shot of the coupon. Give it a try. I have not tried it as of yet but I plan to do so as soon as I think of something to buy.

Yes, I understand what it is. But as just mentioned they are most likely coded (by number or different barcodes) and if it is used once it becomes invalid.
