Fein Tool blades

I like my Fein Tool, I've been using them for about 10 years, I finally bought my own 4 or 5 years ago. I've been seeing the infomercials on the tube lately and I must admit that I got a few new ideas on ways to use it.

I first used one when I had to put a hole in the back of a kitchen cabinet to hook the outlet up which was there for the purpose. The back was 1/4 inch hardwood ply and it was a deep cabinet, it was hard to get back in there with any muscle. The foreman loaned me his Fein Tool and it made short work of it.

For those uninitiated, it's like the saws that take a cast of your body - the blade vibrates rapidly, won't cut skin but will go through hard surfaces.

However, the blades are spendy $50 on average. I found this site which gives a review of an aftermarket brand, Yaeger:

http://www.toolsnob.com/archives/2009/02/yaeger_after_market_blades_for.php

They say go to:

http://www.yaegerblades.com/

I tried but they won't let me in w/o an account nor give me the means to get an account.

Anybody use any aftermarket blades for the Fein?

Never owned or used one, but I think Amazon has OEM blades.

I cut the hole before I mount the cabinet

Speaking of good power tools, have you ever used any Festo tools, Carl?

now that Fein's patent has expired there are a few competitors. I believe the black and decker blades work in the Fein too. I bought the Rockwell one but Im not sure if those blades will work, the hole looks similar, but not sure if its the same.

My friend has a Fein tool, its fantastic for the kind of work he does. Which is mostly very high end wood work on boats.

Its also fantastic for cutting 5200 that morons use to bed in deck fittings and ports.

You mean Festool? I've seen them on display here and there but I don't have the need for anything that high end at this point. They look like they'd be really good for cabinet makers.

They're a quality tool. I heard somewhere that they were originally developed for use in cutting the back window thick rubber bushing on MBs. Who knows?
