Great show in NYC -SHAMELESS PLUG FOR A FRIEND!

If any of you are going to be in NYC on April 17th and want to see one of my favorite people- go to Joe's Pub (no relation to me) and spend an evening with Tammy Faye Starlite.

Tammy Faye (obviously not her real name) is a great singer who lampoons extremism and looks good doing it. Here, she can explain it better than I can.

http://im1.shutterfly.com/media/47b9...D550/ry%3D400/

Tammy Faye Starlite, country chanteuse-cum-evangelist, brings her sweet gospel chansons to the stage of Joe's Pub in order to pray for our country in these dark, black, negroid, O-pressive times and implores the Lower 48, in the words of the estimable Carter Family, to "hold fast to the right."
Tammy will be accompanied by two brave white men: Keith Hartel on guitar and Dave Dunton on piano. No blues progressions will be sanctioned.
With special Jew guest (and multiple-Emmy winner) Eric Drysdale.

Thursday, April 16th, 7pm at Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette St., NYC)
$15
For tickets, call 212-539-8778
Or go to www.joespub.com
A one-year New York Magazine subscription, a $9.97 value, will be included with your ticket purchase for this show.

"Tammy is funnier every time I see her...She has kind of stumbled into greater relevance with what's happening in the world right now...Very powerful people have learned how to manipulate folks through faith and fear. Being absolutely irreverent is an important way to fight back. She's like Lenny Bruce and his insistence on the N-word."

Steve Earle

"Tammy Faye Starlite incisively satirizes the right-wing politics...but above all the gal can sing; she’s all over that signature country twang and style, and she works the audience like an evangelist at a roadhouse revival." Lovell Estell III, L.A. Weekly

"When it comes to complete and utterly wonderful depravity, few have ever dropped their drawers, exposed every orifice and let out a lustful holler with as much panache as Miss Tammy Faye Starlite, whose self-released EP, On My Knees, sets a new standard for countrified carnality." - Robert Baird, Magnet

"Miss Tammy Faye Starlite...Sort of a Pia Zadoable look-alike who pulls off an alter ego possessed by Tammy Wynette, Jesus Christ and Wild Turkey...turned Cheap Trick's Surrender into a Bible-thumping rapturous hymn....and brought new meaning to Bible passages, such as when he comes, he will come. Tammy Faye's brilliant Did I Shave My Vagina For This? brought the house down, especially when she wiped away a tear while singing, it's Saturday night, and I'm watching the tube, while he goes off to shave another girls pubes. All in the key of D - for divine ! Jesus would have loved it, before he sent her straight to hell. " -
Libby Molyneaux, L.A. Weekly

"A country music send-up whose shows can grow disarmingly pointed, Tammy Faye Starlite is a genius of sorts. She has a couple recordings to her name including
Used Country Female and On My Knees, an EP boasting the would-be hit "Did I Shave My Vagina For This?" - The Onion

"A bunch of cowboys wander into a honky-tonk, listen for a while to the band onstage, decide they like what they hear-as evinced by hollered reqests for that song about the vagina.Hey, it could happen, and it pretty much did at the Opryland Hotel, when the singer known as Tammy Faye Starlite warbled the jaw-dropping God Has Lodged a Tenant in My Uterus." -
Jim Ridley, Nashville Scene

"If Pia Zadora and John Waters had a love child she’d likely be Tammy Faye Starlite, the sultry, evangelical country singer who has brought her missionary work to Provincetown for the month of August with her show “Born Again Again.” Looking as if she just walked off the set of “Sex Kittens Go to Bible School,” Tammy Faye is a Red State caricature played in tongue-in-cheek Blue State style by New York actress Tammy Lang. Never has the product of inbreeding been so entertaining." - Robert Nesti,
Edge Provincetown

You all know that I am pretty right of center, but I just love this girl.
Bring your sense of humor and enjoy!

Those guys getting out of Gitmo might appreciate seeing this when they come to the States. That and tickets to a taping of the Maury Povich Show ought to do it :).

Being so open minded I can see them blowing the dang place up halfway through her act:eek:

Seriously, her shows are a great time.Well worth the 15 bucks. Come one Come all... I know we have NYC folk here:D It is rare that she plays Joe's Pub having had a dispute about the percentage of the gate they took a few years ago...

Sounds good to me... Joe's Pub is a great place.

We should turn her performance into a GTG:D

I just spoke to Tammy and she promised shout outs from stage and going backstage for any MB shoppers that come.

She is also "still doing my Stones cover band (the Mike Hunt Band) and I've an all-girl NY Dolls Band called Prima Ballerina - though sometimes we cover the Runaways and are called The Stay-At-Homes. We're capricious for sure."

She is a real hoot!

let's give her a huge audience :D

They won't go to see her, she is dressed immodestly.

Well, they'll go in disguise, as three Hindus: Larry, Moe and Curly...:)
