Why don't our politicians speak like this?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94lW6Y4tBXs

That gentleman was speaking to PM Tony Blair who was actually in the room.

Our politicians seem mealy-mouthed, indeed, by comparison. ( Maybe its just the British accent) Yet everything he says that pertains to the UK is equally true of the US.
"You can not borrow your way out of debt, or spend your way out of recession."

Maybe we should offer him a job as the spokesman for the opposition party here in the US. Where, O where, is Michael Steele?

Of course you can spend your way out of a recession. You can spend your way out of a full blown depression if you have sufficient money. Check out the history of the US.......around the time of WWII.......if you have any doubts about this.

1934 21.7 16.0
1935 20.1 14.2
1936 16.9 9.9
1937 14.3 9.1
1938 19.0 12.5
1939 17.2 11.3
1940 14.6 9.5
