Check out this BMW ('74 3.0 Si)

Was traveling in the country recently, and came upon this gem for sale. Any thoughts?

Any thoughts?

Buy, drive, enjoy.

That's so identical to the one I owned in '94-95 I thought it was the same car. Mine was an automatic carbed 3.0S. This is an EFI model with a manual and a sunroof :D and I paid $1500 in 1994 for a lesser version!

Drove the hell out of that car, I was a 19 yr old pizza delivery guy and the big BMW took all I could dish out. Until I bumped the AT selector into reverse at 70 mph (the lockout button was broken and I was too dumb to realize why that would be a problem...) so I sold it for cheap with a bad trans.

BTW the difference between this and a Bavaria is nomenclature. Bavs were carbed, had vinyl seats, crank windows standard. 3.0S/Si had all the toys, leather, and the option of EFI. A manual 3.0Si is the king of the hill IMHO...

Go get it. Assuming the rust isn't bad (heck, that paint looks original!)

It looks pretty clean, for the money if its in decent shape it would be a fun car. Looks like its going to need some new gaskets, you can see in the picture the windsheild gasket is pretty cracked. But thats to be expected on a car of that vintage.

Looks cool except for those hideous bumpers. That 5mph legislation certainly threw a curveball at the car designers in those days didnt it.

Abysmal fuel economy, but a solid performer.

Certainly a rare car as it has the factory fuel injection and leather and all the attendant bells and whistles that came with Si cars.

I'd buy it, stick a 5 sped overdrive from a later BMW in it, European bumpers, and enjoy.

Super nice, and a MO inspection sticker too! I'd love to get my mitts on that car.

GRAB IT, GRAB IT, GRAB IT!!!

For $1500 you cannot go wrong. Just the parts are worth much more than that!

Plus it is a hoot to drive!

Bavarian Auto has all sorts of performance parts for it. Lowering springs, exhausts, etc.

Looks like that marina is in Gravois Mills, western part of the state I think...

Dave you are a super sleuth! That is where it is. The seller also had a 300D just like mine, but it was his own car and not for sale. I can't buy another cr right now (read shouldn't), so I'm passing, but it sure is cool.
