The Gun Thread

What criteria do you think should be put in place to purchase /own a gun and what is your favorite gun? Please feel free to take this thread wherever you like.

You're kidding right?

Assuming not. No restrictions whatever on law abiding citizens.
Criminals however should not be allowed near one.
Personal favourite? Don't really have such given different guns for different applications. But probably overall the Mauser K98 for me.

I think no prior criminal record would be a good place to start. I also think a waiting period is a good thing. Favorite gun(s) hmmmmm a heavily modded out AR-15 is a great gun with a drum clip and a scope man sweet. A nice .45 is also a thing of beauty. But personal favorite is a russian sniper rifle from WW2 shot that and man fell in love also a BAR .50 is a great gun.

Ownership evaluation criteria should include the provision of a recent certified copy of a Stanford-Binet IQ test showing a three-digit score, and a graduation certificate from the Dick Cheney School of Firearms Safety. Points should be deducted if the applicant bears a striking resemblence to Lee Harvey Oswald.

I was in the Gun Library at Cabela's in Boomtown (outside of Reno, NV,) yesterday.

When I asked to see a Desert Eagle, they laughed and said they didn't have any, they sell really fast.

That's because the Desert Eagle is the perfect concealed-carry firearm.

Talking Nevada is different than California for sure.

Ha ha yeah, on the front door of the Gold Dust West Casino in Reno, when I was about to go in, there was this BIG big sign that said that even if you had a CCW Permit, you still couldn't carry, if you went inside the Casino.

I think owners should have psych tests.

Once they pass it they should be able to own Paris Guns, Railguns, HARP guns, industrial pipelines (cough....supergun)

...
FS: 400m of 31in diameter pipeline capable of ??,???psi static pressure - Make an offer

I think a "well regulated militia" means that guns need to be treated like cars, another deadly weapon that is well regulated and available to the militia in case of war. I think they should be registered, licensed and insured. Dope gangs legally carrying semi-automatic assault rifles they purchased at a gun show are not a "well regulated militia", neither is some nut who walks into a nursing home and kills eight old people for a laugh.

My favorite rifle was my grand-dad's 30-40 Krag, converted in his wood shop into a deer rifle. That thing would knock down a barn, and many a deer ended up on the kitchen table as a result of his fine down-home machine work. My favorite pistol is my Browning Hi-power made back in Belgium in the 70's in fact I like it so much I sleep with it every night, my favorite shotgun is the Beretta over/under my dad hunts duck with, one of his prized possesions that will one sad day be mine.

What do you use for an assault rife, a long bow or a sword?
