Happens, a lady in a Crown Vic just did the same thing in The Villages not to far from you. Except she took out a row of mailbox's. The FL Q tips just take it in stride though, par for the course.

Driver retesting after 70 would be nice, but since the biggest most active voting block wouldn't support it thats not going to happen.

I've driven ~35mph through the villages in a rented gas golf cart that I 'adjusted' a few things on. Of course, that was before I found out that they have a 19mph speed limit for golf carts. Not that some of those geezers pay any attention to it. Can be downright scary sometimes, playing golf cart chicken with grandpa.

Jeezus!

My grandfather took away my great-grandfather's keys and Cadillac sometime after he turned 85. He decided he wasn't going to stop at any of the recently placed (read within the previous 20 years) "new G-d damned stop signs."

At some point you'd like to think a family member would step up and tell them maybe they shouldn't be on the road anymore. If not for their own safety, for the safety of others.

The driver was not cited but will be referred to the California Department of Motor Vehicles for an evaluation of his license, Redondo Beach Police Sgt. Peter Grimm said.

The former townhouse community where I lived a girl who just got her license went straight through the back of the garage while trying to back out!

Some years ago one of our tenants kids decided that they didn't want to wait for the parents to take them to the store...so they went out with the keys and kicked the van into drive....and rammed it straight through the garage door.....

Those police don't seem to have a very well-tuned sense of humor . . . .

Wink *** "You can't be eatin' that there!" ***

If it turns out that the 88yo man was either a Mr. Aaron Goldstein or a Mr. Abdulah Fattwad, I wonder if the RBPD would charge either with a hate-crime?

And, a TODDLER AND AT LEAST ONE OTHER PERSON GO THROUGH THE WALL INTO AN ADJOINING BUSINESS????

Just curious...what's holding the roof up on this place? God's will?

What are the walls made of? Pita bread?

Drywall is no match for a pedal to the metal Jag...

Oh come on The Villages are fun. I spent all last week hanging out there, buzzing around on the trails on a Golf cart.

Drywall and metal studs aren't much of a match for anything. On more than one occasion we put body parts (or whole person) through the walls at the Karate school. We used to have a plaster and paint party before every big testing if there would be visiting judges.
As to no charges filed: What the heck? It's legal there to drive into a building and maim people? Sounds like a fun way to deal with people you don't like...just run 'em over!

I'm with you, miles of golf cart trails. I tend to buzz around with my clubs on the back, and stop to play my favorite holes on different golf courses.
