Personally. I refer to those as “other people’s assets”.

Not Madoff’s.

That's what all the seizing is about.

Like the story states:
Prosecutors are seizing as much as they can of Madoff's personal fortune, and have begun demanding millions of dollars in payments from his relatives. Roughly 6,700 people have filed claims for a share of whatever is recovered. Thousands more — some who lost in excess of $1 million — are expected to come forward.

I hope they loose it all, and as much as possible is returned fairly to those he screwed.
(Unfortunately. There will be many others with their hands too deep in the pie during any divvy-up.)

Don't give a rip. As they said, a fool and his money are soon parted. There were people who decided not to give in to his charm and sweet talk and they still have their money.

As Gretchen Wilson's song goes, My Give a Damn's busted. Maybe it will be a lesson to those who are easily swayed by sweet talk.

I'm speaking from personal experience as the exact thing is going on with me right now... I feel for all the people who got screwed (Especially the ones who dealt with him in person and not through a 2nd party)

The idea of seizing everything is good but the problem is depreciation and upkeep. Almost everything that was bought with stolen funds is no longer worth what it originally cost. Also there's the millions of dollars that had to have been spent on upkeep of the houses/cars/boats etc. That money is gone and spent. Hopefully most of these people will at least get something back.

Take that boat as a prime example. Money spent on fuel, maintenance, dock fees, insurance etc is all gone. Also from what i've seen with this type of scum....he probably would walk into the marina shop and say "Clean and maintain it, price is no object" That only compounds the problem.

And i'm sorry aklim your wrong about the "no rip"
Unless you can prove to me 100% that you cannot be fooled by anyone else on this planet for even something small.

What's your point? That if I can be fooled I have to extend sympathy to others who can be fooled too? Sorry, I have been fooled before and will probably be fooled again. I don't ask for any sympathy and I give none.

If you were careless and got screwed, take your lumps and learn from it. You should have been more careful. Nobody ever said education was cheap.

Apparently, their ranks also included the SEC, those idiots we tax payers pay to keep an eye on people like Maddoff. His clients and the people further on down the line that he hurt were not a bunch of naive bumpkins.

Well, there were a bunch of smart people who decided not to invest with him. There were those who tried to blow the whistle but nobody listened to them because this guy charmed them into believing him.

Like I said, maybe this will teach people not to simply be lulled to sleep with nice words but I somehow doubt it.

I thought you were talking about cup size.

Seriously, people too often fall sway to people with charisma. When will they learn that people develop such skills to screw others. Look at the Presidential elections. People keep talking about how well their candidate did on the debates and the inspirational speeches. Like I have often said, even Jews were moved by Hitler and we know how he felt about them. I guess people will never learn to avoid getting swayed by these charming people with charisma. This is yet another example.
