i was 26 and my wife was 29, and we're coming up on our two year anniversary. my wild days started early and lasted a long time, so i had all the women, booze, and drug OVER-indulgence done with. my wife had a very interesting life as well and we met each other and spent the last months of our wild days together, thrown together by chance. it was easy to make the commitment and has been easy so far because we were at the same maturity level, which is the most important thing as far as marriage goes, IMO. not to mention the love and connection part. i know it's cheesy but i definitely knew she was special and it was time.

I can answer that question. Having gone through fertility treatment with my wife for seven years, finally resulting in twins, I can lay this information on you.

These numbers are all averages. Any individual woman's situation might be better or worse, based primarily on genetic factors:

1. women's fertility potential peaks at age 27, and declines about 5-10% / year.

2. At age 35, fertility has declined by about 50%. Nearly all women at age 35 will have trouble getting pregnant. Some will not be able to.

3. By age 38, only 20% of women are able to get pregnant (with their own eggs).

2. By age 40, only 7% of women are able to get pregnant (with their own eggs).

3. By age 42, only 2% of women are able to get pregnant (with their own eggs).

A woman at even age 60 is able to get pregnant with donated eggs from a younger woman. As long as her uterus is healthy, the success of the pregnancy is based on the age of the egg donor, not the surrogate.

I know some of the stuff seems shallow, but its all a consideration.

1. If she would cheat on her husband with you, what makes you sure she won't cheat on you with someone else? Fool around but don't marry.

2. Depends on the circumcisions of the divorce. Maybe, maybe not.

3. That, IMO, is a dealbreaker. I don't want to raise someone's kids and have issues with the ex.

4. Could be a problem here. If you are not attracted to her now, you might not be happy.

5. Depends on how much "damaged goods" she is at that point.

Better to be shallow and realistic than unrealistic and later regretting it. As my wife knows, if I wasn't thinking that she looked doable at the time, I'd have passed on her. Personality is a bunch of hooey. If you are not attracted to the person, why would you spend time to know her better and discover her true personality?

Me likey. I prefer older women who know the ropes, especially in the sack. At 42, if you hooked me up with an 18 yo, she would be ok for an hour but after that, probably bore me.

Where do you live? I'm 26 and single. When I lived in Chicago, it was no problem finding women 25-30 to date. I moved to Minneapolis last summer, and it is a lot different up here. Everyone my age seems to be married, most of the girls I have dated have been 22-24

To the OP, met the wife in 86, proposed 3 months later. Got married in 90 (I wanted a round number for the marriage year). I was 19 at the time and she was 23

Married at 27. Been married 27 years. Never thought I'd get married, ever. Went out with her once, showed up at her doorstep the naxt day with about a week's worth of close, decided to marry in about 4 weeks, but waited so we could be married in a double ceremony with some freinds. Been great all the years. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

One kid. Sometimes I could trade him for anything.

But if something ahppened and I had to date again, holy cow! When younger, I would generally date with 5 years of my age up or down. But now, heck, 19 yoa all the way to 60! What a selection!

Amen. You have me beat by a few years. The first 15-20 were a lot more difficult that the past 5, which have been a breeze. The middle 15-20 was pretty good and I'd have been well-pleased to live out my life in that relationship. I didn't know it was just going to improve. She's a good woman and a great friend. Life is good.
