Who is PeachParts.com

Is this new? Did I miss something? I thought I was being redirected to some phishing site, but all the links now say /peachparts.com/

The Peach State

bigmaq 04-04-2009 10:42 AM

Ok, got it. The connection doesn't do it for me though: peachparts <--> mercedes, mercedes <--> peachparts.

bigmaq,
You can read about it in the announcement, in the shop forum index - basically, it's the big guy steppin on the little guy.

As far as the domain name goes, there is a good amount of criticism going on in another thread. I can understand where the name peachparts came from. The site originated just outside of Atlanta - many references to peaches there (Peachtree, being the biggest). However, I have to agree with many posters, that the name seems rather disconnected, with what this site is all about.
I hope the owners do not feel insulted about this.... I hope they see that the primary reason for the concern over the name peachparts is that they worry about the continued survival and growth of this site.

Is there a limitation on domain name length? Couldn't do something Prince-like and call it: siteformerlyknownasmercedesshop.com ?

Wild ass guess here, Mercedes does not like the name Mercedes in the domain name.

Just curious, has Benz Whirled changed their name? Or are they affiliated somehow?

So, I've got an August '08 Clymer Sweet, and I'm wondering, what's the best way to prevent the nap on the rind from becoming shiny?:D

Has anyone thought about a mass emailing to Daimler AG?
Brian, (if you're out there) would that be counter productive to peachparts?
I would personally love to give them the benefit of hearing my opinion!!:D

(I understand that it will accomplish nothing)
