Do you like the name PeachParts.com?
I know there is no democracy here, but I think the fellow forum member should at least be heard.
So do you like the domain name peachparts.com? Yes or No. And please be serious with your answer so the poll doesn't get skewed. |
If you want me to answer truthfully, you need to add - I don't care.
1 vote for - I don't care. A rose by any other name would still smell as sweet. |
+1 What's the issue with a different domain name? If there was an underlying technical issue, perhaps, but name only? Nahh.
|
I don't like the name, but I fall into the WGAS camp. The site is the same and the information is the same. That's all that matters.
|
I just think it will be more difficult for new people to find the forum. The name is anything but descriptive.

However, the peachparts name is still a bad choice...I vote a solid "No." |
Having Mercedes in your name just limits you. Peachparts opens up other opportunities. Peachautoparts might be even better.

How about adding "hell no".
|
Buy OEM parts for peach trees here.
(Just kidding. I don't care what the name is.) |

Or did you get kicked out too? |
How come it still says MercedesShop at the top of this page?
I too think the domain name will make the place harder to find. Plus it just sounds weird to say "I read this on PeachParts OD forum" as opposed to "I read this on Mercedesshop OD" |

I guess German Star has been taken (hasn't it?) but maybe something that has German parts in the title. Might be better for corralling business. But Peach Parts isn't bad as long as web searches for Mercedes parts still link to it.
**EDIT** OOps - just did a Yahoo search - no hits on PeachParts.com but plenty of other sites with Mercedes in the domain name. |
I would have preferred Jollyroger.com

Too many lawyers ruining things
Since 1982, I had been going to Beatlefest, a Beatles convention.
In the past few years or so, Apple (Beatles Lawyers) got a hold of the owner of the name, the festival, website, etc. that had been copyrighted to my knowledge, and threatened legal action or paid him off. The story is still fuzzy and I'm sure there was some kind of gag clause in place. The name is now "The Fest for Beatles Fans" or something that rolls off the tongue as gracefully as a bull slipping and crashing through a china shop. The website goes by the same name, but as one word. End result: Everyone who goes still calls it Beatlefest, and the lawyers made out. Do the Beatles benefit by locking up the name? Will Mercedes-Benz benefit by locking up the name Mercedesshop, or just the Mercedes-Benz lawyers? Makes me sick. |
I don't like the name, but more important, I think it might hurt the forum in the long term.
How about a contest to come up with a better name! |
Still think notmercedesshop.com would be a good spoof site for someone to run.
|
How about "threepointestarshop.com" ?

Why peachparts.com isn't showing up in searches for Mercedes parts is what I want to know. |
Funny thing is....MercedesBenzShop.com and Mercedes-Benz-Shop.com are both available....LOL....I am very tempted to buy them.
|
The Tally So far...
6 - Yes votes 46 - No votes 5 - I don't care votes. Need more votes people! |
I don't really care as long as this site still exists. I've been through worse forum upheaval.
That being said, Its a shame that we lose the Mercedes name, mainly because of the search-ability factor. I would say something more automotive related would help with people searching for the site. Maybe: stuttgartcarsusa.com |
