A watercolor my father did

Use the magna icon under the photo in the link to enlarge and than once enlarged click on the photo to increase again. This is 1 of about a dozen or so Watercolors my father did in the late 80's. I took a photo of the painting while it is under glass in the frame so the quality may not be as good as if it is removed from the glass.

I agree. I love the detail and the shine. It looks like it was done in acrylic.

Very excellent work. Your father is a very skilled and talented man. Was he just a hobbiest? That is definately professional grade!

That's very very good. He must have been a professional, or at least worthy of being a pro.

That is a very nice piece do you have any others to share? Do you know how long it took him to complete that?

Those are stunning. Watercolor is very hard to work in and those are some of the finest i have ever seen.

Thanks for the comments! He worked in the commercial art field doing dept store ads and than moved on to do design , Illustrations , renderings and design for some trade show companys. He did alot of Pastels and Pen/ ink at home. The automobiles in watercolors were something he wanted to try being that watercolor was so difficult to work with . He did these in 1986 and maybe a few in 87. After that he never did a Watercolor again. He worked on and off each day on them and says he has anywhere from 40 to 80 hours into each one. Spoke wheels were esp difficult. Watercolor has NO white paint , so to make anything look shiney or have tiny detail the tranparant wash has to be done exact as you can not cover mistakes.
