BTW,, I still love my Benzes, and have no intention of buying a Hyundai, but give credit where credit is due.

Have you guys seen this thing?

http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/09/hyundai-equus-coming-to-the-u-s-in-two-to-three-years/?icid=main|main|dl4|link7|http%3A%2F%2Fwww.autoblog.com%2F2009%2F04%2F09%2Fhyundai-equus-coming-to-the-u-s-in-two-to-three-years%2F

Nice looking car, but that hood ornament belongs on a pimped out 84 Coupe DeVille.

They rip everyone else off so bad.

Mercedes, Lexus, and BMW should sue them for trade dress infringment.

O come on... Is ANY car design in today's market "unique"? Does someone have a trademark on the degree of backlight rake?

They totaly rip everyone off.

Hinkley sued a couple other boat manufacturers a few years back for doing this same thing.

Perhaps I have the, errr "advantage" of age on you. I have heard/seen this type of "borrowing" of design elements for decades. Its nothing new, or astounding--it speaks little to the quality of the car, or the quality of the design. How many times does a competitor put out a car to draw away sales from a sucessful new car? Think Mustang--best selling new car in history--should General Motors have not brought out the Camaro because it was similar to the Mustang? ( Why do you think they call that market segment "pony cars"?)

If you don't like it, the answer is simple--Don't buy one. The beauty of capitalism ( even warped and twisted capitalism) is that the choice to buy remains with you.

When it comes to long term, 10 years or more ownership, I wouldn't trust anything but a Mercedes-Benz. And when it comes to passenger safety, I'm unwilling to drive anything but a Mercedes-Benz. But that's just me, since I seem to think my safety is paramount.

I don't think they steal anything. They license alot of their car technology from various manufacturers including Mitsubishi and Mercedes. Now I do agree though that they may copy design elements, but steal?

Well as you said, thats why I'll spend my money on buying another Mercedes over one of these. Voting with my wallet.

If you like them, they copied.
If you are looking for a means to disparage and simply excuse them, then "stole" is the word.

Its a known issue with the 2002 models and Toyota denies there is a problem.

It will do real harsh shifts when driving in the city and won't shift to 4th on the highway until you pretty much reach redline in 3rd.....which is above the speed limit, which means unless you race it to 80+ to get it to shift, it will stay in 3rd at 70mph running about 4500 rpm.....pretty dumb.

They're trying to get rid of it.

The 2007 is a lot better from what I've read.
First i've heard of this. I regularly service many rav 4's of this era that have been absolutely flawless. Toyota recently enacted a recall to some of the rav's that involve reprograming the computer, i beleive it has something to do with the trans. Next time i'm at work i'll try to look up the TSB, if its computer related it makes sense why replacing the trans wouldn't really fix the problem. I Don't however think that the 02's are in that recall, but maybe they are. I'll look into it....
