Avira

Free Download here:

http://avira2009.free4ail.info/?tid=a

(I run a shelter for free internet Anti-Viral programs...)
AVG
AVG Anti-RootKit
Spybot S+D
AdAware
CCleaner
Avira

And a "Pre-Click" Early Warning system that alerts you to Evil Intent of an URL
BEFORE you go there called "Finjan".

So it's absolutely free. No pay, ever, free updates?

No pay for free AVG, but who can say that the product will be supported forever. But yea, free updates, and quite often.

You must survive an advertisement for the paid product when you open the control panel for the free one. You don't have to wait for it to time out though; you can just close it or leave it there.

+3 AVG No need to pay ever. Occasionally they quit updating a particular build and you need to download the new version. Every couple years it seems.

Maybe I'm jaded, prone to risky behavior, or both, but I don't use virus protection at all. My Windows boxes all reside behind a decent firewall, and when I'm on them I don't engage in risky behavior. I check pretty thoroughly for viruses and spyware quarterly, and have not found anything for over five years.

My risky behavior uses FreeBSD, which is pretty immune to that sort of nonsense.

The gift that keeps on giving, like syphilis.

Hate ATT and McAfee, how appropriate that they have teamed up. I had nothing but problems with both of those.

Avira has blocked more viruses in the past than AVG for me. I'd recommend it over AVG.

Yes

The Avira does seem to get there "Firstest with the Mostest"

(Hell, I'm running 3 different FireWalls.)
