I was born in Bryan while my Dad was working on his MA and PhD at Tx A&M.

Being Okies my folks were bright enough to get the h3ll out of Tx and move to Calif.

Maybe that guy only got a BA?

I honestly cannot begin to understand how something like that can happen. How do you back a truck that far into a lake and not realize it?

They probably had someone in the boat to back it off the trailer... forgot to release the winch from the bow eye and in a moment of eager anticipation of skiing in ice-friggin-cold Lake Austin, cobbed on enough throttle in the Nautique to pull the truck backwards into the lake. It floated away from shore until it sank enough to touch bottom (it's only about 5 ft deep there).
