If I can't drive a car and test a car as advertised I will not consider it...that's all there is to it.

Tell me about it.

What ticks me off the most is people who are looking to buy weeks and months from now, or need to talk about the money and if they can afford it (we're talking 2-4k cars). Why the heck are you wasting my time coming to look at my car if you're not ready to buy? I've sold 2 cars in the last month, showing them to 8+ people, and half were tire kickers.

The best one was a gypsy type that said my E320 wagon was complete garbage mechanically and cosmetically (this was after a 30 second walk around and half assed glance under the hood) that I should be relieved and accept his $2000 offer. He wanted to test drive it without me as well. I'm young, but not born yesterday.

The 50% rate is still there even when I put in the ads, "please no lowballers or tire kickers"

I'd love a Mini Moke but for $22K I couldn't afford anything but kicking the tires so I'll have to pass on this one.

That depends...

Dealership or individual? I do it with dealerships sometimes, but why do you look at a car that you know you probably won't buy anyway from an individual? Do you like it when someone is wasting your time?

I get emails with ridiculous offers too. I had my wagon listed at $4000 (sold for full price within 24 hours) and the email, with no questions about the car or wanting to setup a time to look at it, simply asks, "will you take $1500 cash?"

Cash? Cash? What was I expecting to get with my initial asking price? Pesos, Euros, Yen? or give an individual loan for 60 months?

Both. Mainly dealers, but also looking at some private party autos.

I responded to a few ads with cars that looked great in the pictures.... But in real life were not as good as those in the pictures. Didnt drive as advertised either.

I went to look at a car once, (individual) I left the guy my keys (CD, worth at least twice as much) when I asked to drive his, the transmission was making a heck of a noise, he said what noise?
I didn't buy it.
I guess I'm a tire kicker.

You guys are not tire kickers.

If you go out to look at a car with little or not intention of buying the car right then or the very near future, then you are a tire kicker.

I myself look at about 4 cars to every one I actually purchase.

This is why I hate selling stuff, you have to deal with this. Like my cap thats going to be a driveway ornament for another week.

My friend sold his Suburban to Carmax and while he got about a grand short of what he would have if he sold it privatly...there was zero BS. It took two hours and he had a check, so easy.

This is why we don't do tag sales in my family; it gets donated or thrown out.

I also hate car shopping. I won't bother a private individual unless I am serious about buying the car. I hate going to dealers because all they have is stuff I can't afford. Maybe one day when I have $50k burning a hole in my pocket spending a day going to car dealers will be fun.

Its because they are broke bums without two cents to put together. Tell them to show with a wad of $100's, or not bother to show at all.

I'm so glad I got lucky and unloaded the VW fast, I really didn't want to deal with this.

So that means you've looked at what, about 16000 cars
