Any Tucker fans out there?

I just found out a previously unknown to exist Tucker convertible is going to be at the local Keels and Wheels car show next month in Seabrook Tx.I can't make it but thought I'd spread the word.It was a prototype that was never finished until now.

This is amazing. There have been rumors of Project Vera for a long time. I never believed in it until now. I wonder how this car would actually drive since the roof was a major structural part even with a heavier frame.

Thanks for the articles!

I'm a fan of Tuckers, just gorgeous would a serious understatement!
Way ahead of their time, seat belts? You're saying this car is dangerous!
A steerable headlight? You'll confuse on comers!

No,from what I read it was a unfinished prototype started from scratch just before the company went bankrupt.

Isn't it interesting that, correct me if the facts aren't straight, wasn't it the BIG 3 automakers that help sink Tucker Autos in the first place? A product, too "ahead of its time," being a danger to the BIG 3?

I wonder how much Congress got involved in that...

My, my, my...how times have changed...

I wonder if small auto companies could start to thrive again...

Sorta' like the small, micro-breweries are doing now in small towns across this nation...different, but delectable tastes, regionalized for the individual buyer...

Now, all you'd have to do is get "O" to screw up/down the NTSB where it concerns automobiles...

What about independent suspension?
Horizontally opposed engines?
Disc brakes?
Pop out windshields?
Etc, etc...

Very cool!

I'm a fan of a lot of odd/quirky/misplaced cars and the Tucker is certainly on that list.

He designed a 100mph 4wd scout car for the Army which they did not take. However, they did take his electrically powered plexi-glass twin machine gun turret which was on the top of the car and used it in bombers. It made him RICH...

I thought he didn't make anything off that turret- he donated it to the war effot. I just did a tour of a guy's personal collection of Tucker memorbilia, including 3 of the cars, two of which were used in the movie "Tucker."

Man, I love this Tucker stuff, I think if he was allowed to keep building cars it would have been great.
