Interesting Spin on Decaying Detroit.
Yikes! It goes on for many pages, mentioning nothing about plant closures contributing to the decay, only the increase in black population and crime associated with them.

Nice. A Nazi web site.

I think there may have been a thread about Detroit a little while ago, but man, seeing so many large buildings like that being abandoned is kind of eerie. As for the website, lame.

Anyone seen any comparisons of Detroit with Port Huron(?). I think that's the city on the Canadian side opposite Detroit. Might be a fruitful comparison of social differences. I know Niagara Falls, Canada, is not as deteriorated as Niagara Falls, USA.

I don't believe the obviously racist claptrap that accompanied the pictures, and I was born here and lived here almost exclusively until the 1970s. Detroit's political infighting between blacks could have been done all by whites, New Yorkers, Venezuelans, Italians, Russians etc. What is sad is that the same greediness and lack of civic pride that destroyed the city still exists and is living well. The city will never recover, because too many people look for small bits of low-hanging fruit and short-term advantage. There is no long-term plan. I drive through this every day. I have for almost 6 years. It never changes. Only the names of the people calling each other names are different... |

I heard that the black population has recently dramatically increased in the White House. Must be some sort of blockbusting thing going on.

CNN went to Detroit and found a whopping 13 residents that love the city!

Now their is a pretty racist article!
I did enjoy the pictures though, they did take some interesting ones. |
I've been hearing for years that you can buy a pretty nice house, well, good potential anyway, in Detroit for a low, low price. Not sure how good the investment would be.

my guess is most if not all of em have asbestos in em,and it would cost 5 times what the building is worth to get rid of it,so just let it go to the city to deal with.
