How secure is your garage?

I read this article today and it reminded me that it's not a good idea to leave your garage door opener in the car when you park it in a public parking garage. The attendants can steal it along with your address and then get into your house when you're not at home. Apparently these types of robberies are on the rise during this economic downturn. I'm sure we've all thought of this, but it's worth a friendly reminder!

I don't much about these gizmoes but is there a way to reprogram them or cancel the code in case they do get stolen?

My garage door has been broken for going on 6 months now so it's wide open. Although even when it was closed it still never locked the side door. Probably should.

With any that I have seen, you reset the system (by holding down a button on the motor unit) to delete all of the currently-known transmitters. Then you add back the ones that you still own.

My dad's always said that could happen, and I thought he was just being paranoid. Just a part of society's constant sink I guess.

I don't think the OP knows this.

My E300TD's rearview mirror assembly holds 3. One for each home I owned, and 1 for the GF's home. he - he

I wish I had a garage at all. Might be next summers project, then I'll be able to worry about where my garage door opener is.

Of course, where I live, I don't even lock all the doors unless I will be gone for more than a day.

Homelink does not work when the car is off. For that matter, it no workie without a car. So if a thief steal your mirror, hes out of luck.

I doubt the guys these guys have the tools to steal the rolling code from your homelink. Tools like that are expensive.

If your remote gets stolen just unplug the opener until you can get it reprogramed.

My currant securty isn't to bad; was thinking about upgrading to something else though...maybe a P90 or G36 clone.

You bet! She was down with it, since I'd roost at her home when off the road.
