Blackberry 8830 question
I have a 8830 (which I just got) and I cannot find the 'device options'. Not listed under apps, I have searched the paper manual and the CD rom manual. I did a search for it on line and it tells me what I can do with it once I find it but I cant find it. This is really starting to piss me off.
Anyone of you folks have one of these who can help me? Thanks

It's not activated yet. We will activate tomorrow.
You know, I'm only 43 and I am already turning into my parents. I am looking at this phone and thinking, 'thi is really a lot more phone than I need or really want.' All I want is something with a planner that syncs with my outlook and something that will allow me to talk with people (I think they call that a phone). All this other crap seems to be way over the top and more than I need or will use. The GPS thing could be quite handy. I have never sent a text message in my life and I really do not feel like I have missed out on anything. No iea what else this thing can do.

Hahaha, ask if you need any help. I have a BlackBerry Bold, but the O/S's are the same.
I am going to be in Texas again this summer.... You want to meet up again for dinner?

david,
ive had this for quite awhile, its a good phone with a few features that are kind of hard to get to. esp baffling is how to set your ring tones. however, there are things you can do that are quite nice like set multiple "profiles" for ring tones. for example, i work in an office. when i get to the office, i turn on my custom profile called "office". it has 2 ring tones for when my phone is in the holster and when it is not. both are subtle tones, not loud or obnoxious. i can turn on vibrate mode too (standard profile) or just turn the darn thing off. to get to device options: applications > look for a wrench icon click the wrench icon and then you'll find your device options any questions, email me at bobkim at 4runners.org. crackberry.com is the BEST resource for all blackberries, imho. you will realize though that the 8830 does not have such a loud speaker for ring tones. thats good for me in an office, but most people seem to like to put stupid hip hop rap mp3s as their ring tone and annoy everyone around them as they have their conversations like some rap hoodlum on speaker phone. |

Thanks Bob, I may take you up on that. We will activate tomorrow so I will take a few days to explore it an my wife's 8330. Then I will be asking both of you for the crap I cannot figure out. Question #1 I was able to get my outlook contacts into the address book of the phone but I am not to keen on the set up of the address book. Seems it always defaults to the last place you were in the address book when you re-enter it. Is there a way to set it to revert back to the main contact screen at "A"? Question #2 Is there a short cut to the address book? Not sure if I want to set the one 'quick key' to the address book, GPS or texting. Not like I text a lot (ok never so far) but that could change.
