Mergers---NOW I miss self employment

I have been self employed my entire life and in the last few year i have been non-self-employed but had the benefits of self employment...until the merger.

New software, employee handbooks, enough policies to fill the library of congress and absolutely nothing getting done. I think I'm going to be that youtube guy and throw a monitor.

By any chance, do you work for the government? I do and by your description it sounds just like my job.

Just pull an Office Space. We did that at my work with some of the old CRTs and Printers...

I don't know if it's any consolation, but think about the six or seven half built houses that you don't have sitting empty because of insufficient funds and not-existent buyers.

Sorry to hear. On the bright side, you won't have to work nearly as hard.

While not exactly the same situation (shareholder in a family-owned, privately held corp), I can relate to your reaction to losing autonomy. I can't fathom having to report to someone else and having to follow policies as opposed to setting them. Well, except for my wife.

It was 5 half built houses that wiped out a savings to complete..

I know it could be worse, today has been one of those odd ones...not really bad but one of those days it an odd one for sure.

To the contrary, in a smaller company your personality can get you a long way, in a mid-size company your production better double or you're toast I don't mind that part because I make more money but there's nothing worse than the possibilty of not having a job..

That's premium! recession beer is Busch Light. I was going to post a thread about this at the beginning of beer season; stay the hell away from Miller High Life Light. I thought I was on to something buying a 12 pack for $6.00 and a month later I'm stuck with 11 bottles of piss that I can't even get my beer moochers to drink.
