Bad economy = good buys at an auto auction

So we when to an autoauction yesterday, and I was quite surprise on how cheap cars were sold, and easy to out bid a dealer! I remember last year the dealers always out bid non dealers and pay a hedious price on a pos. We did not came out empty handed we bought our self a 92 buick road master, for a whopping $525 this car is clean inside and out, though it has a dent inthe rear quarter pane. My brother and I regrated no buying the 1995 525i that car was in show room condition and when off for $2500 anyways it a good time to head off to the auction

Its hit and miss, around here they won't let you in unless your a dealer.

I got my truck from my uncles friend who is a dealer and goes to the auction. I paid $7100 which is about $2k-$3k less than what dealers are asking for them around here.

I wasn't going to buy but truck prices are actualy on the upswing, so if I didn't I would have had to pay probably another G note for the same thing in a month or so.

The auction was a weeky event, there were very little agressive bidders most of them were low ballers and tire kickers. I am going there next week once I get my insurence claim wish me luck!!!

Your lucky that you can get in, I'd milk that for all its worth. You should try to buy something easy to sell and sell it after a couple of months at a profit.

The guy that I bought my truck from does that on the side. He bought 3 of them and had them all sold in 3 days. Probably made a G note off each one, all cash of course.

Sort of the opposite in this area. We usually dispose of 50 or so fleet vehicles a month through auction and have noticed a significant increase in sale prices over the last two quarters. I was told that was driven by buyers in the used car market and not the new car market.

Yes, what ever the dealers cant sell in their lot (like old cars) drag their cars here and trys to sell them usally with no reserve, i am planning to buy perferbally a BMW (if my mech approves of it) Or a benz if there's any...
