Mystery Plane
 

I liked the Mistress' thread about the mystery plane so I decided to start my own thread. The goal is to correctly identify the pictured aircraft. When that's done, I'll upload another pic of another obscure airplane.

No prizes, no politics, just good clean fun.

North American A-36 Apache/Invader -- the give away in your picture is the dive brake above and below the wings. Also the bomb racks.So it's a P-51 variant, the A-36.

I agree now... I just saw the A36 picture. You do have to admit that it LOOKS like the XP51 which it is based on:D

I'm going to guess Consolidated B-24 Liberator but it's hard to say for sure from that angle.

I think its German.....

Its a nice plane. Its a shame then only built 1.

Yes it is the Do-19... I figured the UralBomber would be a tough one...
I will have to dig up another one. This is fun...

Extra points:

Why did Hitler deem the Do-19 a failure and cancel it when it could have won the war for him?
