Those didnt include any cell phone related accidents. When I was with my ex girlfriend, I was always afraid she was gonna wreck one day because of her constantly driving while talking. I really did scare me.

that's why she's your ex. Once while crossing the street a young lady in her car almost pummeled me because she was Yacking on her Cell Phone...needless to say I let her have it and explained to her the virtures of driving and not talking on her cell phone, like letting me live another day.Dingbats like that should take the bus.

When they are not distracted and are serious about driving Women are great drivers. However, more and more I can see them yakking, texting, and putting on makeup while barreling down the highway (Aren't they afraid of poking out an eye with a mascara pencil at 65 mph?)

I think men respect the car more, but get in trouble trying to 'get the most out of it' I have been known to get even the Suburban up to triple digits (before gas prices went up) and I to flog the horses in Fritzie to get her up to 120. Now I am driving much slower (80 tops ) and I feel like I am safer on the road. I have also grown up enough over the years to allow that if a person passes me it is not a personal attack. How many guys feel like that?
Back in my 20s if somebody wanted to pass me it would turn into a race.
I guess that shows up in the stats cited by the article....

To throw the old saw out there - How many men get into accidents trying to avoid women drivers?

I tend to agree with LUVMB. Either sex can be great drivers or inept morons. I do tend to think that men, with the 'get the most out of it' mentality have a larger skill set behind the wheel, due mostly to putting themselves in the do or die position more often. At least that was how we convinced ourselves in High School, we weren't truly being reckless, we were in training.
Certainly many of the 'training sessions' have had their opportunity to be used in actual emergency situations.

no question there are inept drivers of all ages and sexes. however, at least in my neck of the woods, twenty somethings in rice burners and the 80 plus elderly crowd need to be watched out for and avoided. there are two eighty plus year old ladies who drive Buicks in my neighborhood that will run stop signs and then stare at you like "what are you looking at?".

how about tire shredders in school zones and residential areas? someone doing 50 in a 25 residential area receives an instant trip to the new tire store. i'm sick of these speed demons who endanger others and don't seem to give a rats behind that they might run over somebody. years ago, I knew a guy who would throw a basketball at cars who were speeding through his neighborhood. he had the muscles to back it up too. when the hot shot drivers rolled down their windows and got a good look at him, they usually just drove off in a huff. jerks.

The only people who speed and blow hole shots in my neighborhood are state policemen playing around with their muscle cars. Bunch of pinheads.

The most important factor is being a bad driver is not sex, it's whether you are from Ohio or not.

The Answer Is ...
In a recent study released by Quality Planning, an analytics company that validates policyholder information for auto insurers, women came out on top (sorry guys).

I kinda like it that way.

I wonder if there has ever been a study that takes into consideration the mileage logged by men vs. women, rather than just the number of accidents and citations.

100% correct and what LUVMBDIESEL said earlier too.

Now I'm by no means a speed demon but I will say this...woman are safer drivers, that's a given. However that still doesn't mean that they know how to drive...

(I'm generalizing the cell phone/makeup ones here)
