Terminator

So my 2 favorite Science Fiction franchises are Star Trek and Terminator. This has got to be one of the best seasons in years for Sci-Fi junkies, first Star Trek, and in 2 weeks, Terminator! This forum as been a buzz with anticipation for Star Trek. So who else it looking forward to Terminator Salvations?

I'm in, I also liked the TV series, the chronicles

SirNik84 05-08-2009 02:04 PM

I really liked the chronicles. I haven't seen the last 3 episodes... I have them recorded, I'm waiting to watch them just before I got to see the movie.

They say they are going to kill the show. I hope the movie changes their minds, but I'm not counting on it.

DieselAddict 05-08-2009 03:48 PM

I'm really looking forward to this one. I'm a big Terminator fan, but not so much a Star Trek fan. I'm surprised this one came out so soon after the last one. I'll probably have to wait til it comes out on DVD though. With a small kid we rarely get to go to a movie theater, not that I miss it much anyway.

I didn't really care for the TV series. They seemed pretty low budget compared to the movies.

Rafi 05-10-2009 01:27 PM

I like Sarah Conner in the TV series, she is hot. Actually all the women in the TV series are hot.

Rafi 05-21-2009 10:43 AM

starts today

Anybody seen it yet ? I plan to see it today.

That's what I thought. It doesn't start in 2 weeks, it started yesterday.

I definitely will go to see it on the big screen.

I saw Star Trek and plan to see it again....great movie.

TylerH860 05-21-2009 11:36 AM

I saw the midnight showing.:( Very disappointing.

JordaanDMC-12 05-21-2009 01:57 PM

Very Dissapointed

Saw the midnight showing as well and not impressed at all. Way to much story in the beginning and not enough action. I also hated the ending.

Star Trek was way better...

diametricalbenz 05-21-2009 02:10 PM

Did the movie include the 5 minutes of him shouting at the stage manager :D

panZZer 05-21-2009 04:51 PM

I dont see why they could not have brung back the kid From t2 grown up and the original mom.

Uh-oh. I was planning to see it on Saturday. Maybe I will just do Angels & Demons instead. :-)

MTI 05-21-2009 06:01 PM

Wait for the cross over franchise movies . . . Terminator Meets Star Trek, Star Wars, James Bond, Die Hard and Lethal Weapon . . .

DieselAddict 05-21-2009 06:48 PM

I won't see it til it comes out on DVD, but I'm disappointed as well that you guys are disappointed. I was afraid that without Arnold it wouldn't be that good anymore.

EricSilver 05-21-2009 06:57 PM

During Star Trek, I saw a preview of the upcoming Transformers movie. Looked interesting, and may satisfy my robot/cyborg craving when it comes out.

Rafi 05-21-2009 08:29 PM

great movie

I just saw it and I do not know what you guys were expecting, I liked it.

Jorn 05-21-2009 10:01 PM

Not a bad movie; definitely entertaining, not as clever as the previous Terminators, didn't like the end tho. And Arnold has a tiny part...

That part with Arnold was so cheesy though, it was like "Wow, really?" lol

Rahulio1989300E 05-22-2009 01:18 AM

CAREFUL! SPOILERS!

What I liked:
1. They kept details like John Conner's wife and kid intact. Kyle Reese must survive... kinda a throw back to the theme behind the first 3, must save one to save future...
2. Great action scenes, even CGIArnold's was fun at least.
3. Loved how they showed the T-800 T-600, Moto, Walking, Flying, Swimming units.

What I did not like:
1. Why put a face on Skynet, that was really really lame, but I guess necessary... how else would they show what Marcus really was this whole time? (His purpose as a new infiltrator unit...)
2. Why did Marcus have an organic heart? Did Arnold have one in the first 3? To keep his skin alive is my only thought... or maybe the heart was needed to keep the human brain in Marcus alive so that he could show compassion and reasoning? Can that not be programmed though?

Someone needs to make a Terminator real time strategy game. Like Warcraft, Starcraft, etc... That could be fun if made correctly with good missions set in the time right after judgment day. The first few missions could be you as John Conner rounding up and recovering what is left of the humans then as the missions progress, establishing bases and leading attacks and rescues. There could be a Terminator side of the game where you are Skynet and you are hunting down humans and well you get the point!

Obviously future movies are coming, at least it is set up well that way. They could show us how Skynet develops time travel and the T-1000 and T-X models. I guess this means humanity is still going to have a long long fight with Skynet....

TylerH860 05-22-2009 01:34 AM

Do not read further unless you've seen the movie or don't care about spoiling it.

The ending???? How stupid! John Connor getting a heart transplant in the open desert performed by his veterinarian wife without any kind of blood tests for compatibility, or medication to combat rejection? Dumb, dumb, dumb.

The movie would have been better if Connor murmured to Kyle, "screw my mom", then dropped dead. :D That wouldn't create any more movies, though.

Jorn 05-22-2009 02:48 AM

The end was bad, had the feeling of a soap opera. But most Hollywood films have a problem ending a movie in an interesting way.

G-Benz 05-26-2009 08:29 AM

Saw it this weekend with the family. Obviously set up for more sequels.

Ironic watching the scene about Marcus' heart transplant to John...the night before, we watched "Seven Pounds"...a weekend of guys giving up their lives and hearts for others...

LUVMBDiesels 05-26-2009 09:59 AM

SPOILERS and SEMI RANTS :-)

OK, it was a pretty good movie. But what was the deal with

1) The big transport/Terminator picking up humans to bring them back to Skynet? Wasn't the idea always to kill all the humans not enslave them? Somebody has Terminator mixed up with Matrix...

2) Marcus' program being to lure John Connor to Skynet. Shouldn't he have just offed Kyle and ended the resistance before it started?

3) All the military hardware, especially the A-10s and Hueys. You would think Skynet would have nuked all the USAF bases and would automatically shoot down anything flying with SAMs... It seems to me that in the original and T2 humanity was reduced to machine guns stuck on the backs of pickup trucks and old Chevy Impalas... Not flat screen comouters and undetectable radio transmissions... Skynet could have targeted any of John Connor's radio chats and nuked his location -- early end to the movie though;)

4) Using Marcus as 'the ultimate sleeper agent' I thought Boomer was the ultimate sleeper agent :D Too much BSG influence? If they were developing the T-800 why make a single Marcus?

I did like the fact that Marcus despite his programming and the control chip managed to break those bonds and really fight for humanity.

Not I. T2 was an experience killer for me, T3 felt cheap and cheesy all around, and the recent TV show was little more than a swimsuit model trying to act (poorly).

I think ultimately the prisoners would wind up as "lab rats" used to develop more sophisticated AI versions of Terminators...

Probably a weird "butterfly effect" issue...since John and Kyle coexisted, eliminating John would have prevented the destruction of Skynet, so his death was the first priority...going after Kyle before John had the chance to destroy Skynet would have been risky...altered the outcome of the future in some other parallel time continuum...who knows?
