Heater problem in my Honda
The other day I noticed one of the heater hoses, that goes from the engine to the heater, is leaking at the connection w/engine. It connects with a spring clamp. The hose looks to be in great shape. It looks like a bit of a PITA to get to the other end of the hose to replace it. Before I do, can anyone think of a cause of a leak at the union besides the hose? TIA

Could be cracked hose. If there is any slack in the hose, I would start with cutting a couple inches off the end, and putting a new hose clamp on it.

Could it be its just not connected all the way? I have had a few of those spring type clamps go bad on me so it might be that.

I'll check to see if there's slack, but it's got two bends in it, so if there is it won't be much. I just don't want to fix/replace the hose, then find out it's some pressure thing or something else I don't know about. Honda's proprietary coolant comes in premixed bottles, so I have to pay $7 for distilled water every time I replace the coolant.

I'd lose the spring clip. Clean the water neck and the inside of the hose out, and reinstall with a good hose clamp.
This may be an indication that you are due for a flush. Is it leaking on the inlet side of the heater core or on the outlet? Sometimes when the heater starts to fill with crud, it increases the pressure because of the lessened flow rate, and manifests itself as seepage in the weakest spot.

It is leaking between engine block and hose. I recently changed the coolant. It's raining today so I'll try trimming and refitting tomorrow.
