There's another thread. Its coming along well, actually. Just located a good grill about 45 minutes away from me, and I should get the alternator back tomorrow.

The other thread:
Savage 6.9

I started a new thread to kill this one, actually.

The new thread was to post the video. Since I no longer need to be talked out of it, I was going to let this one go.

b.t.w its 286hp* (*early models such as this one may have had more) and 405 ft lb of torque. The torque is the same as a chevy LS6.

I think that Tyler abandoned the 1 in 1 out policy sometime back...

Ya think?

11 year old thread! As far as I know, this 6.9 is still in 1000 pieces somewhere in Texas.

Do NOT buy that car, I repeat, do NOT buy that car.

Oh wait ...

Does sound like it might be fun. One wonders if the fun to work ratio was worth it. I learned how to drive on a car with a larger engine. A '65 Lincoln Continental which I think had a 460. Might have been a mere 430. This in '67. We thought it was quite the thing.

A lot loss fun than the 6.9 I'm sure.

The Lincoln would be a 430 (I had one).

I test drove one of the 6.9 here in Lafayette. I think about ten years ago. The asking price was low but the car really ran sluggishly and a lot of stuff didn't work. Pass.

The Lincoln was a small car trapped in a big car. The steering made it feel almost nimble if anything that big can. You sit way down low in it. It had a load of power. I bought it with a cracked block. The body and interior looked really good but smelled wet. It had cruise control as a 1965 model.

I bought a used engine for it, installed it then pulled it and had it gone through. I had trouble selling it along and ended up trading to the local painter's union president (a tenant) it for getting the stairs and hallways painted in my building.

They looked pretty exotic in the day. Either low slung or the illusion of it. The rear suicide doors were cute. They did come with a 460, I'm guessing the 430 was more common. Weighed about 6000 lbs.

From the interweb:
Ford introduced the 460 V8 in 1968 in the Lincoln Continental Mark III coupe. The 460 delivered a solid 365 HP and a healthy 485 lb-ft of torque. Ford designed it as a luxury car engine, and in the Lincoln, it delivered smooth power and effortless cruising.
