Talk me out of this Euro 450SEL 6.9 please

My friend Bob recently shattered his collar bone and had to have surgery to correct it. I've been eying his rarely used 6.9 for over a year now, and to pay the bills he's finally ready to part company with it.

It is a true Euro with the bumpers lights, headlight washers/wipers, manual climate control, and even factory heated seats. Showing 59,xxx on the odometer, I imagine because it was imported used and a MPH speedometer swapped in. He recently replaced the rear accumulators (or whatever they're called on a 6.9) and the car sits and drives perfectly. It was an absolute BLAST! It takes nothing to roast the tires on this car.

Paint is about an 8 out of 10. It had been repainted at some point decently, but has some imperfections Came from Texas, and no visible rust anywhere. Interior 9 out of 10, the only blemish being the crack in the dash. Beautiful Nardi steering wheel and wood shift nob. Water is getting in from the shot front windshield seal. Also needs a new grill (blacked out rattle can style and faded) and hood star.

I could only find 2 things wrong with it. The AC compressor does not engage, and there is a leak from what looks like the lower oil cooler line, which spins in the fan and shoots everywhere. Not a bad leak, but certainly something that would have to be addressed right away. All the windows and electronics work, including the heated seats.

If I cannot have that H2, you cannot have the 6.9..

The choice is yours, E500 wagon or 6.9.....you can't have both

I have adopted a new 1 in 1 out policy, but the one going out would be the 82 300TD before the E500 wagon.

I take it everyone likes the car, given 20 hits and nay sayers?

Justin. Don't EVER compare an H2 to a 6.9....that's absurd.

Tyler, I refuse to talk you out of 405 lb/ft of torque....

Aren't you the guy who ditched an X5 because it was becoming too expensive to maintain?

well, it does look good.

as far as making sense, well, it does require premium, gets ten (?) mpg, etc.

oh, buy it. if i win the lottery, i'll give you twice what you paid for it.

Take a vacation and blow the money you were going to use for repairs for that car; it'll be a five-star vacation with nothing but the best. That 6.9 looks very unloved, and unloved means lots and lots of work and repairs. If that's your bag, then buy it and get to work, but if you're a driver, find a better car. That one better be cheap.

Your going to blow $10k on that car before you know what hit you.

Have fun! If you get it, it gets the garage. Since its an S class it outranks everything else you have except for the SL.
