$30k millionaire ...

http://www.dallasobserver.com/2007-11-29/news/douchebags-in-the-mist/1

The No. 1 thing to look out for, Gormley tells me, is the car. "A BMW 3 series." The cheapest luxury lease you could get. "It's always a 3 series."

Now I have a term for something I have been seeing at the club for years.

TheDon 05-13-2009 10:45 PM

7 pages... damn it..

Abridged, abridged!

Hatterasguy 05-13-2009 10:47 PM

She likes to write! Damn your lazy college cliff note wanting self.:D

Fulcrum525 05-13-2009 10:55 PM

I'm really liking it so far (Just got to page 3)

Enter text here."First, there was the valet stand advertising an $8 fee. Like the symbiotic relationship between a clown fish and the sea anemone that houses it, a $30,000 millionaire is never far from a valet. I handed over my keys to a black-shirted attendant and immediately spotted the next signal: a velvet rope."

I don't give a crap where I go I park my own damn car. No way i'm going to let some monkey scratch it (Ever read any Valet horror stories?)

TheDon 05-13-2009 10:59 PM

$12 drinks.. screw that.. add those up and then extrapolate.. its better to invest that $12 into some stock or at least a 401k than pussy ass drinks.

I went into a Diesel store once to get a Diesel shirt, to be cool with the Diesel crew(oh, snap your shirt says Diesel.. sweet)... $70 a shirt.. seriously... what the flipping fluck..

I bought a puma shirt for less and it was like $25.. outlet stores bia(and it is a Ferrari shirt to boot)

Kuan 05-13-2009 11:24 PM

Hattie you really read all seven pages? Dayung!

Hatterasguy 05-13-2009 11:27 PM

No, stopped at the BMW quote on what page 3 or 4.:D

Fulcrum525 05-13-2009 11:46 PM

Ok here goes....

I read the entire thing but yeah the best parts are the first few pages. I have never and will never want to live the life of these 30 millionaires. Its stupid wasteful and hurtful to too many girls who get used and abused. With that being said I have observed the life of both the 30k millionair Homo sapiens douchebagus AND more importantly the very similar 300k multimillionaire Homo sapiens jackass.

EVERYTHING went into the pursuit of simply trying to impress with things that you didn't actually own or bragging about potential "future" purposes. Exaggeration was also a key aspect of life, the car actually costs $220k, not $180K even though it was bought used at $150K........Getting drunk off beer is above the 300k multimillionaire, only the most expensive hard liquor on the menu will suffice.

I remember too many nights sitting in the car and watching the drunks stumble to and from the parties and bars on the street. Too many girls looking sick or being seduced by guys who only "Want her for the night" Posers cruising the scene with the music as loud as possible and yes, lots of 3-Series.

I had all I needed to be content in and otherwise hostile environment Airconditioning and a nice stack of CD's.

Yep.. most of them tank up at the bar, get right into their car (seems the BMW x3/x5 is popular) and drive to the next one :) I can't believe cops dont just wait outside these places, easy prey

The worst one I ever saw was when I was still working at Dunkin (There was a bar next door) Some kid pulls in, literally falls out of his car, drags himself over to the storm drain an pukes, stumbles back to the car to close the door, and then stumbles over to the bar.

In Texas, we also have what we call the "F150 Millionaires" (no joke); these guys make piles of money, but since they're not into impressing anyone, they drive nice F150s (and similar). These guys have class, unlike the ultra-trendy $30k Millionaires. But in defense of these $30k idiots, they have jobs, they don't have wives, and they don't have kids - they have nothing to spend money on except partying at night - nothing really wrong with that.

I would disagree but I think we'll have to wait for one of the female forum members to chime in before we get an answer to that one....

On a similar note...

I did get a call once to go and save a friend of mine...She had been invited out for the night and simply could not stand to be at these clubs any longer...in her words "Thats the last time I go out to these places."

jcyuhn 05-14-2009 10:13 AM

Please don't mistake the Dallas Observer for anything resembling a reputable news organization.

Probably, however I think the standard of individual is still there and that they exist in any major city or town.

SwampYankee 05-14-2009 11:31 AM

That's some funny $h!t! I know the species well -cough- brother-in-law -cough-. What? Who said that?

I'm also very familiar with (and surrounded by) their married subspecies, the $60K millionaires (ssp. douchebagus X *****us), complete with two incomes, a leased 3 series AND X series SUV, $375K mortgage and daycare payments.

Sorry to hear that G. :( But I'm willing to bet there are considerable behavioral differences that set you apart.

Obviously wasn't speaking of the fine WVOtoGO group. I bet you've flown some of that crowd though...;)

Yup, here is a photographic example of my town. I recognized 4 people in some of the photos, 2 of which I know fit the bill perfectly.

I very seldom go out to bars, and rarely have a bill over $10 when I eat out. The only thing that really hit home in the article was the shoes. You can't wear cheap loafers and be comfortable anyway. I'm always first on the sale rack for under $100 specials on Ecco or Cole Haans. I will not compromise on that. :D

They do, the cops around here have check points at closing time. Milford cops just set them up at will, if you don't like it sue the city.

My uncle drives a Chevy 1500 SS, but he had a string of F150's before the Chevy.:D

The SS is a bad a** truck. Sounds like a Vette when you stomp on it.

I love going out for the night hanging out with my friends and drinking beer. I would be out right now if I didn't have to write a )*&*()&*( term paper. I cut myself off at $20-$30 though. After working hard all day NOTHING tastes better than an ice cold beer in good company.

My Cole Haans are collecting dust, so are my Brooks Brothers and Zenga sports jackets.:D

My Wolverine's OTOH are getting quite a work out. Cole Haans feel like toys on my feet now after the steel toes.
