Doesn't rebuilding a limited slip diff cost like $1000?

Scary if the clutches are shot already at 60k. Perhaps its been doing a lot of burnouts in the past....

We need another video from in the car and up close to hear the M100! Can't hear the motor at all in the burnout video....

Its all positive comments until I buy the thing. Who knows... The rear end makes no noise whatsoever. A different diff could have been swapped in as well.

The AC has somewhat of a charge, believe it or not. I was tickled about that.

The list so far for the car:
1. Remove and send alternator to local rebuild shop or swap. It needs a backout diode, but might as well do it all while its off.
2. Find oil leak. Still uncertain as to the exact location. Need to do more cleanings. Its close enough to the fan that it gets sucked in and spun everywhere. Not big enough to be obvious.
3. Find and fix power steering leak or hydraulic suspension component leak on driver's side. Both are close to each other, but I'm fairly sure its the power steering.
4. Fix instrument cluster and center console lights. The fuses look nasty, so that's the first thing I'll do.
6. Replace windshield and windshield seal. It needs it desperately, with alot of water getting in.
7. AC is weak, and blows only cool air out of center vents, and warm air out of side vents. Still has R12 fittings, and given it still has a charge I should probably keep it that way.
8. All old fluids most go. The car has sat mostly unused for the last 2 years at least. The car had 57k on it during its 2006 Texas inspection.

Yes, clutches, as in "Tyler clutches his chest as he reads the estimate to replace the rear differential in his 6.9."

IIRC, the 6.3 had a rather fine appetite for rear differentials. I don't know if the 6.9 has less of an appetite, but going up .6 liters from the 6.3 probably did little to reduce torque production.

I would change the rear differential fluid and take a good look at the old stuff, which is probably a little chunkier in consistency than desired.

9. As the old fluids go, their filters must follow.

Considering my dad's 300SD managed to kill its differential (massive play in the gears and metal shavings in the fluid).....I bet a 6.9 can do a number on one! We even did pretty frequent fluid changes with synthetic. Now my 300SD's diff is starting to whirr at 280k too....the fluid is still clean looking though. It should last me until I can get my hands on a 2.47 limited slip....

How old are the tires? You should do a web search on decoding the sidewall info to detect the date of manufacture.

The tires on the fronts are old, and the rears replaced when Bob got it a year and a half ago.

Its probably going to get the AMG pentas off of Ol' Turbo anyway. I imagine all that 123HP won't miss it much.
