In search of an American Hat

Ok. So sort of along the lines of the issue of trying to find an American manufactured power tool. I live in Phoenix and have no hair (on my head that is ) so... I have a couple of hats that I have on pretty much all the time that I'm outdoors this time of the year. I have decided to find an American manufactured sun hat. I just checked the local Walgreens which have a bunch of pretty decent ones of exaclty the design I like. All made in China. I'm going to look at more specialty stores and see if I can achieve success. I'll update as my quest continues.

- Peter.

Man I just checked and Tilley hats are no longer made in USA. Friend of mine used to run a hat stall at the local farmer's market but he no longer does it. Why? One guess.

The only hat I know of that's still made in the USA is the Stormy Kromer hat. But that's a winter hat.

Were they ever (most Tilley models) made in the USA? I was under the impression that they were Canadian from the start.

According to their web site, their hats are made in Canada, with the exception of three styles that are made in the USA.

T3 for me.

Interesting. Not really looking for a military hat, but eventually it may come down to that.

Dang I thought they were all made in the USA. Guess we're so far up North here we're culturally more Canadian than anything. Maybe that's why I thought they were made in the US.

You're in AZ--go to a decent golf proshop. The brim straw sun hats are pretty main stream now and I bet mine carries 20-30 different kinds. I am sure some of them are made in the USA.

I watched an episode of "How Things are Made" which featured Stetson's manufacturing process. Took nearly three days to produce a hat!!! And much of it is human labor!!! It was noted in the program that the manufacturing technique remained literally unchanged since the 1890's!!!
