When stupid meets stupid

Every year around this time we have birds who like to beat their brains out, knocking their heads against our windows, thinking,, I guess, they are fighting some rival. Our cat, goes crazy,,, sitting on the inside of the glass, trying to catch the bird. Neither one ever learns. They, the cats, are so smart in some ways, and so dumb in others.

I currently have a blue jay that is beating the crap out of the bluejay in my side mirrors on the excursion. I have to fold them in every night. hopefully it is just a seasonal thing, funny about the cat although not surprising. mine has never caught a laser but that never stops him from trying

My son's Labrador routinely crashes into things while chasing a laser, so I always set it up so that he crashes into pillows.

Seems every spring, some dumb bird is either trying to fight with or mate with his reflection on my polished brass front door kickplate...and always at daybreak!!

Noisy enough that at times I just removed the kickplate altogether...which is now all scratched up from years of bird collisions...

Why don't you set it up so that there's no laser?

Labs are great animals - we have one - and I wouldn't tease him. He's very sensitive.

C'mon, that's not "teasing". I'm not sure animals are capable of feeling teased since that indicates a logical leap of understanding of the concept of humiliation.

It's just a game to the dog and he probably perceives the positive reaction by the humans as a reward.

Now a dog can certainly be tormented by inducing fear such as being cornered by a vacuum cleaner but I don't think this is the case here.

Back OT, at work there's a Cardinal who continually attacks his image in the sideview mirrors on my nearly-identically-colored truck. The mirrors are always covered with scratches and poop.

The same stupid bird is always attacking his image in the mirrored windows of the conference room I frequently meet in. The constant knocking at the window gets pretty annoying after about 30 min...

Hey, it's spring. All the little birds and bees do it.
