You Get an Android, You Get an Android, Everbody Gets an Android!

Google's Vic Gundotra received the biggest applause dedicated to any moment of the Google I/O conference here so far when he announced that everyone in attendance would be getting a free unlocked Android handset.

Update:

Asus + Garmin + Android = 2010 Nuviphone

Toshiba TG01 with "Snapdragon" processor . . . slimmer than iPhone

But, Toshiba isn't building phones in Japan anymore . . . made in China starting this year. Here are some leaked pics of the TG02 and TG03

New From Toshiba

One of the interesting features of the Nuviphone is that it can geo-tag text messages sent from it, like the iPhone does with pictures. If the person getting the text has geo-tag decoding capabilities, they'll be able to see where the sender is, or if they also have a Nuviphone, will be able to be GPS guided there.

So, if the future of texting . . . you better be where you say you are.

New iPhones 3GS (Speed) available next week. Longer battery life, additional features for apps, including turn by turn GPS, auto focus camera that now does 30 fps video, and makes the old model 3G phone $99.

Did anybody get a Pre? I'm with Sprint and I never liked the iPhone; to hip and the key pad is horrible. But the Pre looks very promising.

I think I will be seeing it (Palm Pre) sometime this week. It appears to have the same form factor as the Treo 7xx, so with the tiny pull out keyboard, it will have an iPhone sized LCD. Some early reviewers thought the battery life was too short, but I think they overlook the "feature" that the Pre's battery can be swapped out in seconds, unlike the iPhone. Palm users have been doing that for years.

Blackberry

The first Black-berry device, was established in 1999 as a two-way pager in Munich, Germany. In 2003, more commonly known smart-phone Blackberry was released, which supports push e-mail, mobile phone, text messaging, Internet faxing, browsing and other wireless information services.

I'm developing owner's manual fatigue -- the need to study up on every new device for a few days, and that's a lot of why I've stayed with this Moto V710, which has even survived being dropped partially in water a couple times, although I thought I'd lost it for a while both times.

I've had no experience with either the Blackberry or the iPhone other than what I mentioned. Any of you guys have good reasons why I should go with one or the other? I'm not married to Verizon so I could go with an iPhone if it came down to it.
While my experiences at school have shown blackberrys can hardly be considered 'hardy', having disassembled and repaired countless models for their screens and trackballs going on the fritz, The Storm is also tempting me once my contract goes out in November.

Wait it out til September for the Storm, as the Storm 3 is coming out then. It looks amazing.
