After an afternoon drive...

I found this little gem at Sizzlers. 1973 M-B 230 Diesel with 400,000 miles on it. I spoke with the owners, and they went to Germany to pick it up!. The seats have always been covered and the floor always had a covering on it. She needed a little body work, but when the little old man turned the key, she fired right up.

I wish I had taken more pictures.

And yes...my camera skills suck!!

Odometers are just for maintenance on a Mercedes, the good ones need 100k miles to be properly broken in.:D

I think you mean you saw a 220 Diesel not a 230. The gasser is the 230.

A W115 220 Diesel automatic is probably the slowest Mercedes Benz out there that is contemporary.

Zero to sixty is measured in pages flying off a calendar.

My father had that same car in blue, a 1969 220D. I still remember when the shifter broke off in his hand!! That thing was slow and belched black smoke. Had a sunroof though.

I stand corrected...a few beers at dinner can make a 2 look like a 3. LOL

Slow, I'm sure...but it was nice to see a car of that age with sheets on the seats, and carpet remnants on the floor still. The guy claims that no show has touched the factory carpet since he bought the car and now butt has sat in the seats without the seats being covered first.

The paint was a bit dead, and he said that he was taking it in next month for a paint job.

He said that his kids have shown no interest in the car, so I gave him my name and number in case he ever decides to sell it.

Sad to hear that his kids aren't interested. Shortly before I lost my job at PNP an older guy brought in a very nice green '70 280SE. His son didn't want it, so he sold it to the junkyard for probably less than a hundred bucks. I got to drive it, and it ran and shifted perfectly. Were it not for the fact that I lost my job, I probably would have bought it. It's probably still for sale there.
